The rise of Asian-Americans and their dominance in academia may be exemplified by the extraordinary performance of Asian-American students in New York City.
How A Chinese Solar Giant Was Snared In An Italian Fraud Scandal According to recent media reports, Asian-American students account for almost three-fourths of the enrollment at Stuyvesant High School, one of the city's eight specialized, elite public schools that strictly use test scores for admission. Asians represent less than 14 percent of the city's entire public school student body, meaning they are disproportionately represented at Stuyvesant by a magnitude of about five. (In 1970, Asians accounted for only 6 percent of Stuyvesants student body.) Whites, including Jewish students whose numbers made them prominent as a group at the school, now represent less than a fourth (24 percent) of Stuyvesants enrollment, down from 79 percent in 1970.

Ain't that right, Eric Holder?
It's not fair that some people are smarter or more successful than others, and people who are smarter and more successful need to turn themselves over to "the community" where they can be exploited by the stupid and the failed.
It's only fair.
Like it or not, cultural heritage does make a big difference in your chances of success in life.
12 percent of all American scientists are of Indian
origin; 38 percent of doctors in America are Indian; 36 percent of NASA scientists are Indians; 34 percent of Microsoft employees are Indians; and 28 percent of IBM employees are Indians. Culture based success? Damn right.
Mostly we get the best from Asia. I can see this trend increasing.
It’s all about choices. Some study and work hard, some gang bang and rap.
Results are as expected. And it sure won’t change with the Democratic race pimps overseeing the AA community.
What Holder and Obama don’t seem to learn is if they get there wish the argument will transform into “You are too light skinned black” Kind of a racial purity thing I guess. Happens in Africa between Hutus and other tribes. Happens in Korea. If you are of mixed blood your life is horrible. There are many homogenous countries such as Japan. It seems to be a world wide thing, human condition.
No, it’s only racist if Whites are ignorant of other culture stereotypes.
Much preferable to other "ethic groups" who shall remain unmentioned, who mostly come here to sit on their butts, commit crimes and collect welfare checks.
It is their Time, their opportunity... For “every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
I’m white and my wife is Japanese (well, now she’s an American), but I’m the one that won’t let her get less than an ‘A’.
<<our daughter I mean...lol
It isn’t the Dems fault. Look anywhere in Africa.
I have been buying Chinese food from the same restaurant for the last 20 years. They guy who runs the restaurant is been commuting from Brooklyn to Central Jersey for his 14 hour shifts all time. His son is now a Sophmore at Steyvesant High.
I have watched this kid work in the restaurant since he was five years old. When he was not working in the kitchen, he was studying. He got to Steyvesant with hard work, and he deserves his spot.
Not every Asian who comes to this country is smart, hard-working, or honest. Not by a long shot.
Well is it white or blacks that make up the last 1%?
Please elaborate. I’m sure there are exceptions but my experience is that the majority of them are net assets to our country. Americans would be wise to emulate their work and study ethic.
Those numbers sound skewed. I sincerely doubt 38% of doctors in the U.S. are of Indian descent. I doubt all the other numbers. What is your source?
“Not every Asian who comes to this country is smart, hard-working, or honest. Not by a long shot.”
Of course not,but the odds are in their favor and it’s been that way for many years.
The “whites” in Manhattan are predominately uber-Liberals, raising kids with uber-Liberal attitudes who are predominately not interested in the hard sciences, while their “asian immigrant” and 2nd & 3rd generation Asian kids ARE interested more in the hard sciences.
Translation - it’s not the Asian’s fault, it’s the “white” parents fault
EACTLY TRUE !
Furthr in the article,Jennifer Lee, a professor of sociology at the University of California, Irvine said :
"Access to unequal resources will result in unequal outcomes,
as is true with all of Common Core , the intellectuals are more concerned about "outcome" , rather than equal "opportunity" and productivity.
It represents the dumbing down of the education system so that all students finish academicly "the same " .
Common core is nothing more than Common Crap !
RE: I’ll take Asians into this country all day long. They are smart, they work hard and they contribute greatly to our society.
OK, I agree, next question -— WHAT PARTY DO THEY VOTE FOR?
Unequal access my eye. I’m a teacher. I see Asian kids outperform the other minorities every single day, and they are in the same classes, using the same books, same teachers... The only thing they have unfair advantage in is a focused, hard-working culture and attentive, no-nonsense parenting.
I think they are mostly conservative. Hopefully we give them somebody to vote for in the coming elections!
Gosh, what a puzzle. I have absolutely NO IDEA why Asians would do so well, and blacks so poorly. Yes sir, that is a real head-scratcher....
Sortof. Most of those you cite are probably not American born. IOW’s, they were recruited from overseas by companies OR emigrated here.
Exactly. Many work hard, but they’re not angels. It’s never good to put people on a pedestal besides which, why are we importing so many of these people to begin with?
In Cali, they tend to vote Dem.
Agreed ! My daughter taught in San Franciso area and the Oriental parents made their kids study , be obedient , and stay focused.
They had parents who insisted on productivity from their kids
They would put their kids into private schools, or schools for the exceptional student .. and the kids worked for thier grades.
The parents didn't accept mediocrity either from their children , or from the teaching staff, even if they couldn't afford tuition. If necessary , both parents would work two jobs , and watch over their children's grades .
The parents were committed to having their children be successful , academicly to the best of their ability .
THe difference is the interst and committment of parents in their children's education , and accomplishment .
Normal Parent-Teacher COnferences were supposed to be 3 1/2 hours total ;
my daughter had to have an interpreter in order to communicate with the parents, and the coferences were 7 1/2 hours long.
The difference was parental committment to academic performance and success.
It's unwise to stereotype any group, whether applying positive or negative attributes to them. I know many in my community who fulfill the positive stereotype and are brilliant, driven, and successful; they have doctorates and work at research institutions, while their kids go to Stanford. But there are also some Asians who are criminals, some who are not terribly bright, some who are not hard-working. There are Asian gangs in this country; I've encountered them in the suburbs of Washington DC. People in a particular ethnic group are not all alike.
Where do you get that? I socialize sometimes with NASA people. There are Indian scientists but nowhere near 36%.
“With 59,523 physicians of Indian origin working in the English speaking Western world (the US, UK, Australia and Canada combined), India is by far the single largest source of emigre physicians in the world.”.......from wikipedia
Those percentages I cited are not from a prominently recognized site such as wikipedia, and therefore accuracy is not guaranteed.

Thanks OddLane. Gentrification ping.
But in the Philippines and Thailand, if you have some white ancestry, it’s a plus. You can thank American influence for that.
Can't have those Asians getting too uppity in the 'hood.
