The Coming Paradigm Shift on Climate: Evidence suggests that Nature rules the climate – not Man.
American Thinker ^ | 03/27/2014 | S. Fred Singer

The just-published NIPCC reports may lead to a paradigm shift about what or who causes current climate changes. All the evidence suggests that Nature rules the climate – not Man.

Watch for it: We may be on the threshold of a tipping point in climate history. No, I’m not talking about a tipping point in the sense that the Earth will be covered with ice or become hellishly hot. I’m talking about a tipping point in our views of what controls the climate -- whether it’s mainly humans or whether it’s mainly natural. It makes an enormous difference in climate policy: Do we try to mitigate, at huge cost, or do we merely adapt to natural changes -- as our ancestors did for many millennia?

Such tipping points occur quite frequently in science. I have personally witnessed two paradigm shifts where world scientific opinion changed rapidly -- almost overnight. One was in Cosmology, where the “Steady State” theory of the Universe was replaced by the “Big Bang.” This shift was confirmed by the discovery of the “microwave background radiation,” which has already garnered Nobel prizes, and will likely get more.

The other major shift occurred in Continental Drift. After being denounced by the Science Establishment, the hypothesis of Alfred Wegener, initially based on approximate relations between South America and Africa, was dramatically confirmed by the discovery of “sea-floor spreading.”

These shifts were possible because there were no commercial or financial interests -- and they did not involve the public and politicians. But climate is a different animal: The financial stakes are huge -- in the trillions of dollars, and affect energy policy, and indeed the economic wellbeing of every inhabitant of the developed and developing world.

That was one method that Steve Harris was thinking would actually be a valid application of solar energy -

parabolically concentrating solar energy on a pyrolysis reactor to produce a burnable oil.

The billion dollar companies that Al Gore owns depend on the myth to stay alive. Al Gore must keep up the hype.

I have to hand it to him. He is a marketing genius.

He perpetuated a myth that now consumes the lives of hipsters all across the land. This myth keeps his billion dollar companies going. It is the biggest marketing scam in the history of mankind and Al Gore rakes in the $millions$ from it every day.

As much as these treehugging hippies hate the ‘capialist machine’, they have based their whole lifestyle on a marketing campaign from a few billionaires.

Man, they love koolaid.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for the paradigm shift, let alone the apologies.

Good move...the buildup of greenhouse gases in your body could kill you.

On the other hand, actually holding my breath would spare me from the stink of leftist hypocrisy.

"I was watching the History Channel (or one of its clones) yesterday, and it was about the “Little Ice Age” that occurred in the Medieval period. The entire program had an alarmist tone and kept questioning: “COULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN??????”

That is a great documentary.

As to your last sentence, we may very well be in the beginning of another era of cold weather.

I'm a big fan of global warming. Living in Spokane and Germany for eight years total gave me all the cold weather I could ever desire. Still get our blue northers in Dallas, but they're few and far between.

Not if you stay indoors. Hey, it's dangerous out there: knock-out games, leftist hypocrisy, identity thieves scanning your butt trying to get your credit card info...

I took care of the last one, bought one of those shielding wallets in December on QVC. lol

Wind turbines do warm their local climates: they have a powerful heat island effect similar to a high rise city. Laboratory grade equipment is not needed to detect parts per million changes; a ordinary backyard thermometer can measure it. In the name of global warming, no man-made structure should be built higher than 40 feet. A side benefit is we’d have to demolish our communist high rise cities and their windmill eyesores they always erect in conservative areas.

Hmmm. I was considering powering with non condensible gas and probably a portion of the bio oil. Solar power would simplify the plumbing considerably.

Thanks, I may actually get this thing going.

Buy one of those old, huge satellite dishes and cover the inside with reflective material. Put your pyrolysis reactor at the focal point.

I don’t think I have to warn you about the dangers of the intense heat at that focal point, right?

Exactly. 70,000 years ago, the spot where I’m sitting was under a thick ice sheet. It’s not there any more (although with this winter, you wonder about its eventual return). Climate scientists, even the legitimate ones, cannot explain why that ice sheet was there, nor can they explain why it melted away. What is clear is that mankind had absolutely nothing to do with it.

One thousand years ago, Vikings raised cattle in Greenland, grapes grew in Scotland, and Labrador of all places was referred to as “Vinland” as grapes were found growing there, too. There is some indication that Chinese seafarers transited the Arctic Ocean about this time. We call this the “Medieval Warm Period,” and the charlatan priests of the church of anthropogenic climate change want to find a way to “get rid of it.” The reason the MWP scares them is that it is too cold today for all of those things.

The climate is changing. And the fascinating thing about the climate is that there are cycles within cycles within even longer cycles. My guess is that we are gradually, longer term, trending warmer, but may be entering an intermediate colder cycle. But I don’t know.

And really, neither do the climatologists. Even the legitimate ones.

Don’t think that is going to happen any time soon. AGW (aka: climate change), is a powerful tool in the hands of groups and governments to exploit and control energy production, along with the ability to control economies and populations through energy starvation. Global warming is a shakedown racket and power-grab, nothing more than that.

I would like an explanation for the current cold trend. Since last Summer.
Saying “global warming” is not a sufficient answer.
Talking about “cold fronts” from Canada is no explanation.
Saying “the wind is blowing cold air in from the Great Lakes” is no answer.

Of course the weatherjerks won’t answer this. The real reason is we don’t know. The weather and the climate go in cycles. Cold. Warm. Snow. Rain. Sun. Clouds. Repeat.

weasel itself out of the “Globull Warming” HOAX.

They'll just move on to something else to try and scare us all to death.

I figure it will be something to do with "Clean Water".

Won’t happen.

“Anthropogenic Climate Change” servers multiple purposes for the LEft. It is a Religion for the Left, it transfers money from the developed nations to the Kleptocracies of the Third World, and transfers power to national governments, the UN and various NGOs.
