If it looked like a Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate was in pain during a debate about the issues which affect the states LGBTQ community on Tuesday, it wasnt because he was uncomfortable with the subject matter.
It was because Massachusetts Treasurer Steven Grossman was passing a kidney stone during the debate.
Grossmans situation was so noticeable that it instantly inspired a parody Twitter account, @GrossmansStone. According to the accounts bio: Consensus builder. Pragmatic progressive. Mostly mineral.
@msherryflax Spent a lot of time pondering that waiting for my chance to escape Steve's renal area. Congress needs more water. #mapoli Grossman's Stone (@GrossmansStone) March 26, 2014
According to his spokesperson, Chandra Allard, Grossman was in severe physical pain during the 90-minute debate. Allard told the Boston Globe that Grossmans pain-level was a 10 on a scale of 1-to-10 while he answered questions.
@gavinesq I'm with Steve because he's a progressive leader with a record of results and because he loves calcium-rich ice cream. #mapoli Grossman's Stone (@GrossmansStone) March 26, 2014
The debate was held at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square and there were seven other candidates. One of the independent candidates, anti-gay gubernatorial candidate Scott Lively, also caused some pained looks while sharing his agenda to advance a Biblical world view.
@JimiMack7 I know that I must fight to be a voice for those stones I left behind. If I don't, who will speak for them? Grossman's Stone (@GrossmansStone) March 27, 2014
Other than Lively, all of the candidates voiced their support for Massachusetts LGBTQ community.
And the reason we need to know this is???????
And time and time again we hear the tired line "they don't want special treatment".
Yet another furry critter trapped in a putrid place clawing to get out.
Throw this man a tampon.
I think the guy is a dope, but I’ve had kidney stones. I am a big tough guy. The 7mm stone had me on my back crying like at little girl.
Either this guy has NO feeling in his netherworld, or it wasn’t much of a stone.
i went to take dinner to my friend's family after she had passed a kidney stone... she looked like she had been hit by a semi... her husband showed me the teeny-tiny stone that the hospital had put in a plastic container...
