U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli told the Supreme Court on Tuesday that the First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA)which Congress enacted to guide the Executive Branch and courts in defending that rightwould not directly protect kosher or halal meat-processing corporations from a hypothetical federal rule that by generally banning certain meat-processing practices effectively banned kosher and halal meat processing by incorporated businesses.
Verrilli told the court that the customers of a kosher or halal meat-processing companynot the company itselfwould have cause to sue in such a situation.

Welcome to the new American legal system.

Nope. Not certain that they meant it, though...

The Obama Administration’s active hostility toward Christianity and Judaism continues to disgust me.
On an unrelated note: I continue to wonder why, according to Gallup, only 34 percent of Americans can “correctly identify President Obama’s religion as Christian”.

GOP Platform 2016 (Cynical version)
- Promise to cut entitlements, guaranteeing we won't win any elections.
- In the event we do win elections, increase entitlements.
- Use the IRS to come down on conservatives and tea party groups.
- Rebrand all democrat platforms as our own and pass them.
- Talk a lot about jobs. Don't actually do anything.

Someday, when the socialists ration meat, they will say that the free exercise clause does not mean that Jews get kosher meat. They will be told to eat what they are given or not at all. Muslims, however, will get all the halal stuff they want.

And of course the same administration hack who argued they would have standing in this case would have no problem arguing against them in that one. Kind of like whether Obamacare penalties are a tax.

Yep; your observation needs read at least three times to let the full weight of the catch-22 of our new legal-system sink in.
