Just this week Students for Life of America was on the University of Michigan campus with our What Has Roe Done For Us? display, educating and dialoging with students about how abortion exploits and harms women, only to find out that the university is apparently endorsing a different message to their students.
The University is currently sponsoring a pro-abortion display,4000 Years of Choice, which declares Abortion as a Blessing and a gift from God, directly countering to the truth put forth in SFLAs Roe display which tells the stories of women like Jennifer Morbelli, Karnamaya Mongar, Tonya Reaves, and Marla Cardamone who were killed through legal abortion. Further, the display declares that Personhood for zygotes cruelly subverts the very idea of a culture of life and potentially criminalizes every pregnant woman.
Abortion is never safe for woman, legal or illegal, and for the University of Michigan to have the audacity to use taxpayer dollars and a taxpayer-funded building to push forth an agenda and human rights violation that the majority of Americans oppose is disgusting.
Just to be certain that the display was in fact publically funded through taxpayer dollars, Tina Whittington, SFLAs Executive Vice President, called the universitys Institute for Research on Women and Gender (IRWG) the host and co-sponsor of this display along with the UMs Program for Sexual Rights and Reproductive Justice, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design.
After talking to Debra M. Schwartz, Senior Public Relations Representative for the IRWG, it was discovered that the University of Michigan paid $1,000 to have artist, Heather Ault, come onto campus to give a lecture, as a part of that lecture the artist let them display her art display, 4000 Years of Choice, free of charge. On the phone Debra said, Contrary to what they are saying this display is not about pro-choice or even pro-abortion.
This is about the history of women learning to control their reproductive system. Heather is trying to get past the hanger and the idea of back alley dirty abortions and celebrate the ways women, and men for that matter, can control their reproductive system through birth control and even by aborting a fetus. While Heather Ault is trying to portray herself as an abortion historian, the truth is that she is radical, abortion activist, and the University of Michigan has funded this message through taxpayer money.
Take a look at her art below and decide for yourself whether or not her display is not pro-abortion:
Why is the University of Michigan using taxpayer funds that declare that Abortion is a gift from God? Do they support this message? SFLA is calling for the University of Michigan to take down this display, to return the taxpayers money, and to ensure that only private money is used for displays and projects like these. It is an outrage for the university to endorse this anti-human rights message that abortion is a gift from God and that it is a blessing.
Join us in this call to action by calling Mary Sue Coleman, President of UM at (734) 764-6270 or by emailing her at email@example.com and demanding that she sees that this display is taken down, that all taxpayer money is returned for this event and display, and that never again will UM align themselves so closely with abortion as to allow public funds to be invested in a flagrant agenda to support and promote abortion.
The ACLU is only upset when religious invocation is counter to their liberal agenda.
If I understand this issue correctly, although the states do have the 10th Amendment protected constitutional authority to legislatively address religious issues imo, I wonder why liberals aren’t crying PC “separation of church and state” with respect to the school’s reference to God.
Sick and evil. Evil and sick.
Blaming God for sin is the ultimate blasphemy.
Abortion is a government-sanctioned murderous curse on us all that we’re being forced to pay for at times.
So they are saying that God gave them this gift. Let me see if this is anything that is way, way beyond mind numbingly stupid statement.
You have sex, get pregnant, decide that you don’t want to bothered by a baby, go to an abortion clinic, have the doctor stab the innocent baby in the head and suck its brains out nd want people to believe that God gave you this gift.
Wow, just when you think that you have seen the lowest level of the sewer there is another level to be discovered.
The culture of death lives on.
Blaming someone else, they think releases them from the responsiblity. YOU chose to abort the living soul in YOUR body and allow yourself to be convinced by the agenda driven sickk minds in and out of government. This will only bring you to realize only when YOUR judgement day comes and you are standing alone who HE holds responsible.
God! They used the word, God? Help ,help, help. 1st amendment violation, Constitutional crisis. Call out the ACLU!!
Regarding abortion, as a consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught about the differences between legislative and judicial powers, nor the Constitution's 10th Amendment which protects state sovereignty, citizens don't understand the following about Roe v. Wade.
Not only did the activist justices who decided Roe v. Wade get away with wrongly ignoring that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect the so-called right to have an abortion, but they also ignored that the Founding States had made the 10th Amendment to clarify in general that the Constitution's silence about issues like abortion means that it is automatically a state power issue. So the Court wrongly ignored that Texas had the 10th Amendment-protected power to prohibit abortions since abortion is not a constitutionally enumerated right.
In other words, corrupt justices wrongly legislated the '"right" to have an abortion from the bench.
After God let her get pregnant in the first place! Why would God create a life inside a woman, then give her a "gift" of being able to kill it? That's got to be the dumbest thing the pro-aborts have ever come up with. It ranks up there with the "Choice on Earth" Christmas cards from Planned Parenthood.
If they understood that the aborted babies are immediately in the presence of God, they might start having second thoughts. Revelation says our prayers are stored in front of the throne of God - He is hearing and remembering them and building a rage that will be added against those who do evil in His name.
Which god are the referring to? The God of Abraham would not gift this evil on mankind. They must be referring to a different one. One that is worshiped through selfish acts, destruction of innocent lives and corruption of all that is good.
