Christopher Trotter will make history later this year when he unveils the first bottles of wine from his vineyard nestled to the north of Edinburgh -- all thanks to climate change.

Let's pretend they haven't been growing grapes to make wine in upper New York state for a long time. The miles and miles of vineyards along lake Erie are a mirage.

Scottish wine, you say? New type? Maybe it could be Algore? Put it right up there with the Merlot.

And they were making wine in what is now Scotland 1000 years ago, when all those turbo powered carts were rolling around the countryside.

"Warmer seasons in Europe, for instance.."

??? What? I thought Europe set cold records the past few years, especially England and Scotland where they had huge snowstorms. Wow, I must have imagined it all, but like I always say - Never allow BS to get in the way of Al Gore increasing his $400 fortune..

Edinburgh’s climate is quite mild. Average low temps are never below freezing, and records are seemingly never below zero.

Commercial wineries exist in far harsher climates. Accuweather is simply deceiving low-info types.

The lakes moderate the climate in area. Its the winter
which is problem - too cold will kil the vines

Summers in NYare long and hot enough to allow grapes to mature

Scotland climate was too short to allow grapes to completely
mature. Until recently

During medieval times southern England was wine growing area

So much that French wine merchants complained to king that English wine was undercutting them....!!

Huh? Traverse City is colder than Scotland. Guess what grows up there.

When I was a kid we used to go over near Holland and pick grapes so my mom could make wine.

IIRC, vineyards existed in the British and Scottish Isles hundreds of years ago. The Mini Ice Age that occurred during medieval times pretty much wiped them out. Without the resources needed to make wine, they invented SCOTCH!
