The parents should find out why the school didn’t call 911. They should investigate this school and sue the hell out of them.
The other thing to investigate is the thugs disciplinary history before this situation. A big problem is that starting as early as pre-K when the bad actors start acting like bullies, too many people enable their behavior by saying they’re “just playin’”. Usually, by the time the thugs do something seriously violent they’ve gotten away with so much for so long that there’s no reining them in.
Absolutely! I'd be making that call to my attorney as I was visiting my son in the hospital.
Dad should have showed up at school, and dialed 911 to report an attempted murder and emergency medical attention was needed ASAP. I wouldn’t have budged.

You have to sue each and every teacher, administrator, principle individually for their individual failed to act.
if suing them would actually take it out of their pockets and pensions i’d be 150% there with ya.
As an urban school teacher, I'll field that one. In most school districts it is forbidden to call 911. It can be a job-losing action. We are directed to always call the School Safety Office instead.
If you pick up a school phone and dial 911, you don't get 911. You get the do-nothing School Safety Office. Of course, with cell phones it is now much more difficult to enforce that policy. But still you can lose your job if you are found out.
And why that policy in the first place? Administrators want to keep their school violence and school suspension numbers low. That means bonuses and promotions for them. So they handle things in-house. Perhaps the attacker will get a warning. To h*ll with student safety. Careers come first.
