Kayla Reyes says she interviewed for a job on the sales floor at Fresno's Fashion Fair mall in February but was told that she wouldn't be able to relate to customers because she had seen combat.
Reyes, who enlisted in the military at the age of 17, claims that the interview took a turn for the worse when her 4-year army career came up and that the hiring manager said, 'Being that you've been over there, you wouldn't really know how to approach people.'

How long has Macy’s logo been the ‘red star’? Just curious.

Not only is the red star a turn-off, but also the prices.... way way overpriced.

It used to be a far smaller star and not a red one as it is now.

I remember the logo below from the 1980's, but when they switched to the use of the large prominent red star I dont know

The Macy’s in The Loop in Chicago is an amazing space that I urge anyone who appreciates architecture to visit. Don’t buy anything there though.

So she’s upset they tried to steer her to a higher-paying job?

Reyes should apply for a job in Macy’s HR department, it sounds like there’s a real need for someone with her experience there.

I suppose there is a difference from being in country where the men whip their goats and then trying to find employment in an establishment where the women whip their goats.

It used to be the jewel in the crown of Marshall Field’s. It was great as an old-fashioned department store. In addition to clothes and shoes for men and women, they not only had a notions department that sold sewing stuff and fabric, a toy department with beautiful German Steiff stuffed animals and even hunting depart that sold beautiful rifles and safari clothes.

During the holidays, the lines for the Walnut Room were huge. The Christmas tree was beautifully decorated. The store’s windows were full of wintry scenes and mechanical figures.

The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. I got my first grown-up suit there and had the same salesman for ten years; he actually kept me from buying overly trendy crap like flared pants and polyester leisure suits. He said, “Fashion is for people with no style.”

Prices were not low since they seldom had sales but the quality was great. I had a Scottish-made Shetland wool sweater for over 15 years.

Believe it or not, I;ve never been to Macy’s in 4 years. My GF’s has, but I have never stepped into one as I thought it’s mostly a chick place. Now there’s more motivation for me not to..

They could be right. How under standing and sympathetic could any war veteran be be with a customer how greatest trauma in life is that she can’t find the right shade of dress to match her dogs eyes. It could be hard to connect with a drama queens too. She is better than that job.
