Artists install Monty Python silly walk signs in Norwegian town

A Norwegian town has reminded denizens that a normal gait is preferable to a strange one after Swedish revolutionaries installed a pair of silly walk signs.

An art group put two street signs inspired by Monty Python's Ministry of Silly Walks on either side of a zebra crossing.

>

"It's just for fun. There's no deep thought behind it," Reidar Johannes Søby from the Kreativiteket art group said. "People live in their ordinary lives and when they see this sign, maybe they can have a little smile on their face. That's all."

Apparatchiks at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration were not best pleased about the addition to the town's street furniture.

"They are not very happy about it," Søby said. "They do not seem to have a sense of humour.

"One should not use signs that can be confused with public signs," section chief Elisabeth Bechmann fumed.

If they're confused that easily they're too stupid to leave their homes.

I love it! Everyone should practice silly walking, at least occasionally. BTW my 1.5 yo granddaughter agrees emphatically.

A suit, a bowler, a briefcase and umbrella are a must before crossing (they should write that on the sign, and that will really piss off the “Section Chiefs.”)

Does Norway really have a sufficient number of zebras that the Norwegians need to set up special crossings for them? Seems a bit of a waste to me.

How about some anagram street signs like:

ON RUNT NO RED

POTS

ON FELT RUNT

GROWN YAW

EON YAW

SUB POST

And then there are the four directions:

THORN, SHOUT, SEAT, AND STEW
