I am sure his race had something to do with it. But...this kid is impressive. I love seeing first generation anyone getting that far ahead.

While the schools fill racial quotas, there are also regional quotas. I live in a very competitive school district where high achievers are often wait listed, where if they came from the next town over they would be accepted.

If this kids was in an under performing district, plus he fill a racial diversity slot— that would all be in his favor.

That said, this kid is impressive and we should all applaud his hard work and determination. This is what America is all about.

Actually race does. There are a total of 3 black kids in my son’s school (several dozed mixed race kids). One of the black kids has these types of numbers. He is from France.
Schools don’t believe he is really black because he is, well, from France.
If you think Asian’s are hard on their kids about school, try black college professors.
