Georgia Solider Moves Daughter's Messy Bedroom to Driveway on Monday
UPI ^ | April 1, 2014 | Evan Bleier

Papa don't take no mess...

A Georgia soldier was tired of doing battle with his daughter about her messy bedroom so he carried out a sneak attack on Monday and moved all of her possessions into the family driveway while she was at school. The Fort Stewart soldier left a sign on her stuff that read, "Haley, room moved to driveway. Clean it next time."

The man, who did not want to be identified, was hoping to teach Haley a lesson.

He told WSAV that she was upset with the unexpected move and called his tactic "extreme."

In order to improve things in Haley’s room, the father has hired a painter to come in and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. The father hopes that the new paint job will inspire Haley to keep her quarters cleaner from now on.

I can only presume that you are not a GI brat. GI fathers tend to be authoritarian, by nature, and their sons grow up up to be the best damned NCOS fielded by the U. S.

Cheers!

Back in the 90s I knew a guy in Austin, Texas who told me he got home from work one day and all the neighbors were standing in front of his house. His teenage daughter had spray painted “My parents suck!” on the driveway.

Bad children are like bad laws or unions - if you end up with them, it’s probably your own fault. If your teen spray paints that you suvk on your drive, it’s probably accurate. A hard truth, but truth nonetheless.

I think the guy sent his daughter off to a home or something. He was a weird dude so in her eyes they probably did suck. I laughed my butt off.

Not a Brat but Dad was USAAC in WWII, so I just missed the travel. I’m the Baby/Accident of 3. I’m the one that got caught at the screwups.

“He wants to be a parent and not her friend”

He seems to want to be a former parent, when his daughter leaves and wants nothing to do with him.

My Dad did that to my sisters stuff for the same reason.
The 2nd time around she never saw her stuff again.
Amazingly she keeps an incredibly clean and organized home.

THAT second round taught her the lesson. Well done, dad.

Agreed.

When my boys were growing up, I did most of the cleaning of their rooms until they reached about 12. Even then, I was not terribly strict about their rooms, but I had a rule about their leaving their stuff in the common areas of the house. Any clothing or sports equipment that I found in the living room got thrown out onto the front lawn. It did not take long for them to learn not to leave their stuff by the front door.

Oh,yes, he is such a mean man for wanting to teach his daughter to be responsible and orderly and to respect the rules of the house.

“Oh,yes, he is such a mean man for wanting to teach his daughter to be responsible and orderly and to respect the rules of the house.”

In addition, he’s a fool for sacrificing his loving relationship with her. Fools often have good intent, but lack wisdom in how to balance discipline and relationship.
