Georgia Solider Moves Daughter's Messy Bedroom to Driveway on Monday

Papa don't take no mess...

A Georgia soldier was tired of doing battle with his daughter about her messy bedroom so he carried out a sneak attack on Monday and moved all of her possessions into the family driveway while she was at school. The Fort Stewart soldier left a sign on her stuff that read, "Haley, room moved to driveway. Clean it next time."

The man, who did not want to be identified, was hoping to teach Haley a lesson.

He told WSAV that she was upset with the unexpected move and called his tactic "extreme."

In order to improve things in Haley’s room, the father has hired a painter to come in and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. The father hopes that the new paint job will inspire Haley to keep her quarters cleaner from now on.

Mmmm. Nice tactic, wouldn’t have been what I’d have done, though. I would have put it in the backyard, not public in front of the neighbors. Also, I would have been a bit concerned about thieves.

It’s a daughter, not a recruit.

This guy seems like a jerk. If he is a Sgt, he should know how to pick his battles better.

I raised two daughters. I never had to do something this stupid.

My guess is that this girl is preggers at 17 and out of his life as fast as she can.

My grandfather was known for being an odd parent. To wake his kids up, he would do semi-bizarre, bordering on assault things - pulling them bodily out of bed still wrapped up in blankets and dumping them on the floor, dumping ice water on them in winter...Note that the children weren’t sleeping late or anything. He would just randomly do something insane. They’re all just a wee bit “off” now.

Resorting to public humiliation like this suggests deeper-seated problems in that household than a messy bedroom. Sadly, the relationship between this man and his daughter will never be the same after this.

When our kids were growing up, we simply refused to clean their rooms for them. If they wanted to live in squalor, so be it. We just kept their doors closed so we wouldn't have to look at it. Over time, they began to pick up after themselves because they realized nobody else would. Now they are all living on their own and their homes/apartments are always neat and presentable. They learned.

In Minnesota dad probably would have been charged with domestic violence.

Bad children are like bad laws or unions - if you end up with them, it’s probably your own fault. If your teen spray paints that you suvk on your drive, it’s probably accurate. A hard truth, but truth nonetheless.

Well, that’s why I said “probably”. Some are certainly born. The Bible mentions bad seeds, so they definitely exist, but I think most of the time, a bad child is the fault of the parents.

Been around more than enough kids to know about 10% of kids are just going to be asshats no matter how good or bad they are raised... They are the ones that turn into the 10% of adults who are asshats.

I’m with you totally on this emphasizing “PUBLIC” in this. I think the daughter actually handled it better and more maturely than her father. “He’s a GI and I told him, this is NOT the ARMY” strikes at the heart of the whole sub-culture of “army bratz” (and HOW I LOATHE that term to begin with!)

These career soldiers, who are mostly un-hirable outside of the military, don’t know when or HOW to turn-off “the job” when they’re back home. PLUS, the constant moving and upheaval at tax-payer expense for their families needs to end. I was sitting in a FF resturant near Fort Jackson near Columbia, SC when I overheard this non-com giving his what must’ve been,5 year old son, the 3rd degree. Dad was rattling on so fast with his questions, the kid didn’t have a chance to answer, his head in his hands, saying over and over again “I don’t know, I DON’T KNOW”. Finally, being 53, and not caring, I said outloud. “AT EASE SOLDIER!”. He snapped back “Mind your own business!”. I replied. “I was until you went all GI JOE over there...That’s fine, you’re in civie territory right now, I’ll let Forrest Acres (Police) handle it.” I was able to read his name off his uniform, and started to dial. He roughly grabbed up his son and stormed out, his “silent wife” trailing behind. I called the base, I don’t know if anything was ever done about it, BUT a police report was made and DSS was called because clearly, this guy needed a serious time-out!. I do hope JAG does atleast make sure thiS Ga GI and his base CO have a “prayer meeting” over this issue and SOON!
