Police in Texas have said they believe that an 85-year-old died about a savage attack by two pit-bulls inside her own home on Monday.

Dorothy Hamilton was found by her son lying in the living room of her home in Kaufman along with two 'very large and aggressive' dogs.

Authorities said that her son had been keeping the dogs in a bedroom in the house for several months and they appear to have broken through the door and attacked Hamilton.

However, police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death as neighbors revealed the dogs have a history of violent behavior.

When are people ever going to learn, fighting breeds are no good as pets. These dogs don’t play by the canine rules that other dogs are governed by.

Three things I deem worthy of death: Ragheads, thugs with guns and pit bulls.

Thugs with guns would be all inclusive ... drug dealers, muggers, etc.

What a nasty way to go, eaten alive by wild animals.

I think — that owners of these dogs are going to have to be held to a higher standard and face punishment if their dogs attack and maim or kill.

Legislation needs to happen. If those folks who think they’re the best owners around want to take the risk, fine, but they have to face the consequences when they’re wrong.

I was looking through the veiefinder of my camera...felt a tug on my pant leg...looked down...very carefully..and noted the presence of “leashless” pit bull .

the nearby owner was quick to assure me...that hes widdo puppy was harmless...

No APOLOGY...however

Headline reads like SUV-hysteria/Climate-change-hysteria et al.

I’ll agree with the pitbull-hysteria on one condition:

For every pit bull eliminated we eliminate 1000 stupid humans. Sound extreme?

Nah: It wouldn’t even make a dent in STUPID ‘accidents’ ‘cause the rate would have to be an order of magnitude larger...

Does FR have a ‘Darwinism’ ping list?

This certainly qualifies...

I take my dog to a local dog park. Occasionally there will be a pitt bull. They are obviously more aggressive then even other big breeds such as a german shepard or Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Ridgebacks are hilarious! I know a couple who had a pair of the ...big goofy Ridgebacks.

I cant imagine anyone having a pit bull around a child...or other dogs.

Wow every mother should have a son that keeps walking self thinking time bombs that are armed with teeth and a powerful bite in one of her bedrooms.

I can hear her son now. But they were nice little harmless puppies who never hurt anyone. I bet with all the publicity that is out there about this killer breed that he really wants others to believe that he had no idea that they could or would kill someone.

Charge him with second degree murder or at least negligent homicide and send his butt to prison. He should be held responsible for this just as if he had killed her himself. He knew these dogs can and do kill just like all the other owners of these dogs should know.

It doesn’t seem like keeping pit bulls in confined spaces for a long time is such a good idea. Other stories posted about previous incidents had these dogs living in apartments or cooped up inside for most of the day. I bet that’s 80 percent of the problem.

Deal. We'll start with all the pitbull apologists. That will surely get us through the first five years or so.

About a month ago I was in my garage, the garage door open, when I looked up and a Pit Bull was quickly walking toward me. I had no chance but to say “Hey, sweetie.” She came up and started licking my hand. I petted her and found a phone number on her collar and called the owner. He sent his wife to get the dog. I don’t believe it always ends that way. I’ll admit it scared the crap out of me.

There was a similar thread a few days ago — one pit lover said he thought the mother of the dead 4-year old girl might have been menstruating.

Can’t use that excuse this time.
