Three men in Ypsilanti Township Monday assaulted a woman who was able to marry her partner during the brief repeal of Michigans gay marriage ban.
Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office deputies reported the 28-year-old woman got off the bus about 6 p.m. Monday in the area of the 3000 block of Roundtree Boulevard in Ypsilanti Township.
The woman told investigators she got off the bus in the area and was walking home through an apartment parking lot. Three men approached her, with one of them using a homophobic slur, calling her a derogatory name for a woman and asking her if she had recently been on the news.
A man then punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground and causing her to lose consciousness. When she woke up, one of the men was kicking her in the torso.
The men then fled from the area on foot. One of the men is described as white, 5-feet-10 inches to 5-feet-11 inches tall, heavy set and with a low or husky voice. The other two men could not be identified.
Investigators said the woman has recently been in the news because she was able to marry her partner in Washtenaw County. A federal court decision struck down Michigans ban on gay marriage in late March, with couples able to get married for one day.
Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
Because its a HOAX, like every other damn one of these stories.
How many of these incidents have been proven to have been staged lately?I’m not buying it.
Oh golly gosh, suspicious me... Let’s see how long this story last before it’s outed as fake.
Or maybe it will be the one exception that proves the rule.
6PM is broad daylight. I want to know why she can identify 1 guy but not the others.
IBLSHHI-IN, Before Laz says He’d Hit it.
Maybe this time he did.
I smell Fakery!!
I vote “hoax” while I wait for the facts to come out.
I am going to call fraud right now and beat the rush.
She sounds really trustworthy.
Not only broad daylight, but in an apartment parking lot when the residents are returning home after work and nobody witnessed this?
I don’t think so.
And it was the first beautiful warm day since about September an nobody was out and around?
All of them. But it doesn’t matter if the fake hate crime is in fact a hoax, because what’s important is that the sentiment exists.
There’s just something about the number 3.
Trying to cash in like the lesbian waitress hoax hate note?
In two days, she will quit talking and demand the whole thing be dropped. Then we know it is fake.
That was my first thought too. I’d be really surprised if this turns out to be real.
