Wonder who will replace him???
Jay Leno is free! :)
Letterman; not part of the top 10.
Pat Sajak is a pretty funny guy but I think they’ll find him slumped over the wheel.
I thought it was a National Geographic episode about fossils....

That is pretty exact. Do they know which Thursday afternoon in 2015 this will happen?
He last said something funny in 1991
So must ojoker 2016 !can’t wait.
Letterman plays the fool for Obama... who cares if he’s leaving?
Gap toothed moron.
Retire? I thought he DIED years ago (or was I thinking about his humor?)
If so, it's gotta hurt his ego.
Maybe Conan can replace Letterman. Both of them try to be at least a bit edgier than Jay or Jimmy.
Or maybe Jimmy Kimmel and ABC can go back to trying to compete with Nightline hosted by Ronan Farrow.
He is but he had a talk show and it didn’t go that well ratings wise.
January 1, 2015 is a Thursday.
The earlier, the better.
Good, I never liked him.
Ha Ha Ha and Ho Ho Ho. Dropping watermelons and old TV sets off the rooftop. What a comic genius he was. So funny. Man, those were clever stunts. Watermelon then a TV. A TV and then a watermelon. Ha Ha Ha Dave. You jerk.
Why wait utill 2015?
Before late night he was on in the mornings. Didn’t last because of the audience. One year because he was on contract with NBC for a late night show that didn’t happen.
Same schtick back then. He hasn’t changed his show in 35 years.
Adam Carolla is very conservative and very funny.
(He and Jimmy Kimmel co-hosted The Man Show for a few years about a decade ago)
If only he’d retired 30 years ago. Replace him with Leno.
Isn’t he someone who used to be funny?
Letterman retiring? The question is, will anyone notice.
I thought he retired 15 years ago.
He is still around? Who knew!
Jimmy Fallon must be destroying him in the ratings I think Jimmy Fallon is very funny and entertaining even though he kinda swoons over the Dem politicians. His band could stand to be a little more diverse also. I’m still a little pissed over the way they treated Michelle Bachman. :(
Anyone remember that Sajak had a short lived chat show?
The only thing worth watching on Letterman’s show was Johnny Carson’s final TV appearance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9i6A6LGwa4
I still remember the show when Letterman admitted to having improper sexual relationships with staff.
It was a shocking admission, but, I remember the audience cheered and laughed at that. It made me think, wow, his audience has no morals, no sense of decency, that even what was supposed to be a serious solemn admission of wrongdoing is greeted by the audience as if it is comedy.
Here I had my bucket list schedule to watch an entire Late Show with DL in 2016.
Now what am I going to do?
How can I die without ever sitting through an entire Late Show with DL.
When Letterman came on way back in the day after Carson I tried watching him. I never thought he was funny, he was just way too eclectic.
How he has lasted all these years is a true mystery.
The other thing I never understood was that Johnny Carson at one point wanted Letterman to replace him and NBC to their credit said no.
So did Dick Cavett. The most incredibly unfunny funny man I ever saw on TV. Cerebral, and all that, ya know. Sure.
David Letterman to retire in 2015.
Oh, no!! Who will shill for the democrats in the next election?
(rhetorical question... we know the media is full of democrat shills)
From the way he engages with people on twitter I would suggest that if Sajak did another late night talk show, it should be a call in show. He feeds off the public quite well.
From what???? Being a smug , liberal ass kissing elitist.
They will replace him with another dirty old leftist
Bill Maher maybe?
Exactly. He has been nasty and sanctimonious since then. He was a raging liberal but as bad as that was, its not the reason I didn't watch him. He was just plain obnoxious.
David Bitterman is as funny as a registered letter from the IRS.
He will never change.
Isn’t he more libertarian than conservative?
And isn’t he busy with a show about catching bad contractors ?.
Soulless old bastard.
Retire from what?
I hope it's Craig Ferguson.
Maybe Biden could. I don’t see a better fit for the agenda of the show. Maybe Ed Schultz or Chris Matthews.
