Mom Grateful for Stranger Who Paid for Family Groceries: 'You Didn't Judge'
Yahoo Shine ^ | 4/4/14 | By Beth Greenfield

A simple, generous act of kindness can be so life changing — especially when it means the difference between kids going hungry or having full bellies. A poignant blog post written by a mother of five made a beautifully honest illustration of that recently.

I have no doubt that the 'Dead Beats' crowd here on FR will have plenty to say about this.

Seems that many peoples hearts have grown so hard that they no longer understand acts of just plain everyday kindness. They worry about being 'cheated' more then what an act of compassion can do for your own soul.

It really comes back to a point I have been driving recently. People scoff especially what I call the 'Dead Beat' crowd here on FR, because their hearts have become so harddened that they can no longer see the difference between the poor, the ill and the slothful.

To the poor and the ill the bible instructs us to help as we can:

'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' Matthew 25:45

"Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;" Proverbs 17:5

But the the Bible has plenty to say about the Slothful:

"04 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing. Proverbs 20:4

"For while we were yet with you, we gave you this rule and charge: If anyone will not work, neither let him eat." 2 Thessalonians 3:10

“Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker;” Proverbs 17:5

I only mock stuipid people who are “poor” due to their own damned stuipidiity, especially when they have items that are more expensive than my own and they spend their meager money frivolously and cannot manage their own money because their priorites are all screwed up.

Wow, why are you starting out a post with such a judgmental first sentence? No one has even commented yet.

Haitians are poor, there are no “poor” people in the US. Just those who have less then others, but that doesn’t make them “poor.”

Nice story. I think if everyone, was able to do something kind to another (just a kind word, buy them a bottle of water, etc.) in their circle of influence (just around them, where they are), i can’t imagine how many paying-it-forward acts there would be? How a kind word or a simple act may REALLY make someone’s day?

I have no pity for the most all of the “poor” in this country.

Maybe after the collapse if they wake up I will have pity, in the meantime I do feel for people who are truly poor elsewhere around the world.

When you are standing in line with someone or have personal contact with them, you are in a much better position to judge whether they truly need help or are just gaming the system.

It’s why faith-based charities are so much more effective than government programs.

Obviously the stranger sized-up the situation and determined that the lady was in distress. Kudos to him!

Fat little kids with DebbieCake crumbs on their lips and iPhones are not poor.

A kid in Etheopia that gets a spoonful of rice a day... thats poor.

On a worlwide stage, if you own a pair of shoes, you are the 1%.

But that denies government their power, can't have that, according to Liberals, they should be the sole source of "Charity."

I wish opportunities like this were presented to me every day.

Maybe they are and I just don’t see them. I’ll try harder.

My wife is from Mexico. When I first met her, I told her I was a poor American. After she came to visit me in USA, she was surprised and said “you’re not poor! You eat fast food all the time, you own your own car, you have a refrigerator and cupboard full of food. You have air-conditioning, etc. etc. You are RICH. I AM poor in Mexico!”

After we had been married a few years, we traveled to India on a mission trip. After she saw the conditions the people lived in there she said “I always thought I was poor in Mexico, but now I see that I was rich! At least I always had a roof over my head and knew that I would at least have beans to eat. These people are poor!”

Good point. If they are ignorant, it may be their own fault, but if they are truly stupid, well, that’s likely the way God made them.

After working with the “poor” in this country and the poor in other countries, your statement is 100% correct.

There was a poignant piece of film on The Travel Channel where they went to the city garbage dump in Managua, Nicaragua.

There was a group of homeless children (there was a specific Spanish name for them which I don’t recall) who would wait around the periphery of the dump for the next trucks to arrive, and then descend on them with fury to dig through the newly arrived trash for something to eat.

THAT is poverty. We don’t HAVE poverty in this country.
