A Campobello woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison after she was found guilty of killing her infant daughter with the drugs in her breast milk.
After a four-day jury trial, 39-year-old Stephanie Greene was found guilty of homicide by child abuse, involuntary manslaughter and unlawful conduct toward a child in the 2010 death of her 46-day-old daughter, Alexis.

Guilty. But her eyes...her eyes....
Terribly sad.
Rest in peace innocent child...
This was a horrible case before I ever saw that picture...
It appears from the article this was a case of prescription medicine overuse or abuse, not street acquired drugs.
Would it were there were a tenth of as much concern for children murdered in the womb as for a negligent poisoning.
She already has a wreck of a life. Nothing is gained by putting her in prison for 20 years.
There are thugs that have killed their victims with one punch that walking around fight now after simply getting probation.
While she is definitely guilty of negligence pertaining to her child and has long-standing issues with prescription drugs, it is evident to me that she did not intend to murder her child and was horrified that she did.
As another poster pointed out, millions of children are murdered in the womb by their mothers intentionally but society not only deems that not a crime but actively seeks to make the process easier for them and makes villains of those who would speak up against it. It's a very strange world that we live in.
If we just legalized drugs, then wouldn’t all these problems just disappear?
I agree.
“She already has a wreck of a life. Nothing is gained by putting her in prison for 20 years.”
Prisons are for punishment. I bet another druggie whore will think twice before poisoning their child. Even if that does not deter, this bitch will nevertheless be punished.
She’s got those crazy eyes.
how on earth did she get pregnant????
Breast milk homiciide
Dang
On Nov. 13, 2010, the baby was found dead in her parent's bed, according to solicitor Barry Barnett.
When the coroner's office investigators arrived at the scene, Greene was slurring her words, had unfocused eyes and appeared disoriented, according to testimony at the trial.
Barnett said a toxicology report showed a toxic level of morphine in Greene's blood, liver and brain (they mean the baby not the mother). He said other drugs were also in her system, including Klonopin.
A doctor at the trial said the baby must have been given the drugs orally, since there was an absence of needle marks.
I'd guess over-laying was more likely. The baby would have ingested less than a hundredth of the mother's consumption of drugs in the breast milk - enough to show up in her blood, enough to make her drowsy, maybe or maybe not enough to stop her breathing. If the mother was habituated to high doses, so was the baby. What is meant by "a toxic level", exactly? Overlaying by a stuporous mother or possibly father - good chance of that.
She may claim late term abortion and then get off.
Sad, but why is it ok to knowingly kill a baby, but accidentally is wrong?
I’m so confused.
That’s a ridiculously long sentence.
I doubt she poisoned the child intentionally. Had it been intentional, she would have been convicted of 2nd or 1st degree murder. Instead she was convicted of manslaughter.
It seems to me that some people enjoy the suffering of others but are too cowardly to do it themselves so they cheer when their government does it all nice and legal-like.
