Emirati Wives in Bad Health Ask Husbands to Marry Again… But the Husbands Refuse
Emirates 24/7 ^ | Sunday, April 06, 2014

Two Emirati wives suffering from serious illnesses set an example of love and sacrifice when they asked their husbands to marry again.

Their husbands were equally loving and sacrificial and rejected their wives’ requests.

The two separate cases have been handled by Dubai’s government family guidance centre which said it was struck by such mutual feelings.

The first case involved a woman who is suffering from cancer and wanted her husband to have another wife after she felt she no longer can please her husband.

“She came to us after she failed to persuade her husband to marry. She said her husband had taken her to numerous clinics and hospitals for treatment but doctors failed to cure her,” the centre’s chairman Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi said.

“When we told her husband, he again refused. He then went to her and said: “I am satisfied with my life with you. I am only concerned with your health and will be with you forever. I will never marry another woman.

Quoted by Emarat Al Youm daily, Hammadi said another wife who has been bed-ridden because of bone and blood illness tried to push her husband to marry, saying she no longer could carry out her duty for him and was feeling that she was unfair to him.

“She told him ‘please have another wife. I am satisfied and want you to be satisfied, but he replied: ‘Thanks for your feeling for me but I am satisfied with my life with you. the most important is your health’.”

Did I die and wake up in a parallel universe? This happened in the Mideast?

They probably didn’t have any money to buy a second wife.

Why is it sick that they loved their wives?

After all the head lopping, female mutilation, rape of young girls and boys, beating and stoning of women it is nice to hear a human interest story coming from muslims, no?

Even though it is nice to hear - it’s sort of sick that they had to make a big deal about it so much so that we ended up hearing about it. Christians do this all the time without any hoopla!

I didn’t say that the men who defied that culture were sick.

It is a sick culture that holds that women who are too frail to service their husbands should be abandoned and replaced by younger healthier women (or little girls). How worthless does a woman have to feel to ask her husband to do such a thing? Why is it newsworthy when a man doesn’t cast his sick and dying wife aside for a more useful female? Christian men and women stand by their spouses during illness and death. We don’t consider that newsworthy. It’s normal.

The headline sounds like a Henny Youngman joke.

My wife asked "Honey, would you marry me all over again?"

I said, "What am I, as dumb as I look?"

I thought it was sweet when my husband took care of me during serious illness, but it didn’t surprise me. Christians stand by their spouses, in sickness and in health. We don’t abandon each other in hard times. A culture in which a woman asks her husband to discard her because she’s been taught that she’s worthless except as a resource for her husband’s pleasure, and that culture considers it newsworthy when a man doesn’t follow that sick practice, that is truly a sick culture.

What a sick culture.

I could not agree with you more about the sick culture part but not because of the story. They are sick because they want to kill anybody that is not their religion.

The Father of Israel, Abraham was asked by his wife to take another wife, her handmaiden. She did this because she could not satisfy his desire for an heir.

Was that sick?

During the time of Christ polygamy was not uncommon. To be a bishop in those days however you must have but one wife.

We do a lot of judging by our own standards, things change.

It is a sick culture that devalues women and girls. That is one of many things about islam that makes them sick.

It is not a parallel to Christianity. They aren’t following a different path to God. Allah is not God. Allah is Satan.

If your only objection to that culture is how they view you personally for being a Christian, then you are missing the greater message.

BykrBayb,

In my opinion there is no sicker religion than the Moslems. Their fake prophet was a child molester, but that was not the subject, or so I thought. I thought that the subject was how horrible it was for a wife to offer her husband to take another wife.

When you condemn the practice of polygamy you put people like Solomon, Abraham, Jacob, King David and other Biblical greats in the same boats as the Islamist’s. I simply point out that at different times there are different standards.

There was a time when a very large percentage of people looked upon slavery without objection, we know better now but because we know better now we shouldn't condemn those who didn't know better. We are better now, those that follow us will look back and call some of what we now find perfectly normal as crass and uncivilized, perhaps even barbaric.

They might even condemn it. Of course I shouldn’t condemn it, because, um, because... I should be tolerant and accepting of all cultures. Just because they treat women like dogs and little girls even worse doesn’t mean they don’t have a wonderful culture. (How am I doing?) Just because we now know we were wrong to own slaves doesn’t mean it’s wrong for them. I shouldn’t judge. That is their culture, and I should respect it. (Am I subservient enough yet?) If they want to have sex with goats and children, there’s nothing wrong with that, because Allah wills it. All cultures are equal, and we are just experiencing a different time and space. If they have their females convinced they’re worthless and will spend eternity in hell for being born female, who am I to say that’s wrong? (How much more of this tripe do you need?)

Islam is a sick culture on many levels, for many reasons. Their evil teachings about women, children and goats are among those reasons. You will never convince me that their hatred toward women is ordained by God. I know better.

Have a lovely evening.
