Did anyone see the latest episode of Rake where the lead character, a lawyer, made a case for the acceptance of beastiality, and won, clearing his client of wrong doing?
That’s spelled bestiality.
I’d be surprised if ASPCA and/or PETA isn’t up in arms about this. Although PETA for selfish reasons.
I knew there was a reason I gave up on that show after one episode. Sometimes instincts just work.
The show is based on a New Zealand series by the same name, and like most rehosts, is very lacking compared to the original. American screen writers are the laziest bunch of no-talent hacks on the whole planet. It goes back for DECADES and DECADES.
An early one I remember was Steptoe and Son (Sanford and Son), a later one the British “Shameless” series on which the one here on cable is based (and badly, IMO). Another great New Zealand series “Outrageous Behavior” was tried here under the same name with that chick from the Candy Man movies....bad bad bad.
A new show I gave up on after two episodes is “Resurrection” based on a French Series “The Returned”.
Anything that is good seems like it has to be a non network production, and then they only make 10 or so episodes for a year. Others like “Falling Skies” are great mostly, but it’s even longer in between seasons.
I watched maybe 10 minutes of the pilot episode. Didn’t find it funny or interesting.
I have always had a difficult time trying to watch ‘goofball’ comedy/comedians, whether on TV or movies.
I haven’t watched ‘Resurrection’, as I didn’t care for the theme.
However, over the weekend, I was watching some TV programs I have on disk and I ran across one named ‘Babylonian Fields’ unsold pilot. I dediced to watch. I have no idea where or why I have an old copy. It is sort of the same theme as ‘Resurrection’. It was also kind of creepy.

I do like to watch pilots for TV programs. It is interesting to see what was ‘sold’ to the networks and the changes from the original concepts. Some are almost identical but maybe some changes in actors; others are very different from the pilot.
It won’t be around much longer...ratings are abysmal.
The older I get, the more impatient I get when it comes to plot development - an example to me was the recent “bubble/dome” fiasco “Under the Dome.” For “Resurrection” it is just bad writing. I could see this was going nowhere fast. I don’t have time to waste it on a bad rehost of an already existing plot line.
As an avid Stargate viewer, I watched Stargate Universe for several episodes, each getting more boring than the prior. It was not until the last two episodes that they (writers) actually went for broke and got creative (maybe they fired the initial writers, I don’t know). But by then, it was already cancelled.
The most enduring writer incompetency fiasco was “Lost” IMO. Original plotline, but mostly just drug-addled leaps of fantasy and aimlessness that finally had to be put out of its misery - ending in a classic, Bobby Ewing “It was all a dream sequence.”
All of the actors in that series should be banned from any future role or guest appearance IMO. Just for having been on that POS show.
It figures. But, actually, I blame copious use of the dreaded Mary Jane, Ganja or the especially potent Marakesh Hashish by the writers. No other explanation fits, frankly.
I like both versions of Rake, and hope the American one will continue writing the series after the prison episode.
Gotta pander to the Muslim “small livestock lover’ community.
