SIERRA VISTA Sierra Vista K-9 Officers Bones and Izzy will be outfitted with life saving bullet- and stab-proof vests, complete with their own department patch, thanks to Tucson-based Protect Police K-9 (PPK-9) and a generous, anonymous Sierra Vista donor.
Police dogs are working officers, just like their two-legged counterparts, says Lawrence Boutte, Sierra Vista lieutenant. They are trained to serve and protect and will put their lives on the line while on duty. These vest will help keep them safe in the field.
PPK-9 founder Michael Valdez started his business with a mission to help all Arizona police dogs get equipped with bullet-and-stab-proof vests after hearing about Dax, a Tucson Police K-9, who was shot while chasing a suspect. With the help of generous caring donors, PPK-9 has provided life saving vests with a price tag of $825 each to police departments throughout Arizona. For more information on this non-profit organization helping to save K-9 officers one vest at a time, visit http://www.protectpolicek-9.com/.

A great idea to protect working police dogs with vests, and the generosity of those that bought them will get them into heaven a few days earlier when they get to the pearly gates. Beautiful dog; not with the muzzle on though. The muzzle is definitely not photogenic.
Doggie Safety!!!OOO-Rah!
These Brave canines save so many officers lives from Bad Guys. How wonderful that these doggies are protected.
why the muzzle?
AFAICT, no popo K-9 has shot a civilian K-9, yet.
For the Presswes Safety.
I LOVE dogs, yet I hate this tendency to festoon all cops and cop critters in all manner of nomex tactical gear —it signals an eagerness to use force.
Every year that passes the cops have more kook gear, and there are more innocent people having their homes invaded with innocent deaths.
Our forefathers wouldn’t have approved of any of this.
Plenty of cops are good but that guy and dog gussied up with that look like they would have gladly have worked for King George III.
“If we change the way we live, the TERRORISTS WIN” —remember when they used to say that?
King George probably would have insisted on polished boots...
Been there, done that. Rover couldn't tell the difference between cats and weed. Outlaw sniffer dogs NOW.
Can just a plain old civilian dog obtain and wear such equipment ?
Out of curiousity....what gear is that officer wearing that you do not approve of?
If he has VISA card to pay for it at the Cop Store. lol
1. Military-style drop-holster
2. Vest on outside of smock
3. Stabber on outside of vest
4. Shaved head
Here is the geardo acquisition/use danger vortex:
1. We'll get it for JUST IN CASE
2. Hey we have this exotic thing just SITTING AROUND --why not put it to USE..?
So things go around like that in a circle about 100 times --pretty soon you have an occupied city with the cops very proud they don't know any of the people they "are protecting".
Equipment is driving patrol choices and no adults are in charge.
In a sick way many cops are secretly thrilled by public revulsion of their high-speed gear --it authenticates their "cop experience".
There are many good, intelligent citizens who could act as street sources, but see this evolution and then decide to simply sit on their hands. And on their information.
AH! I missed one device:
The black rectangular box covering the sternum portion of his vest is an EVIDENCE VIDEO CAMERA.
Fine —it prevents false allegations against the officer. Great.
WHY then do cops almost automatically arrest those filming THEM...?
And WHY does he even have the option of turning OFF his camera? I mean —to quote cops— he has nothing to hide, right?
My dog alerts on the odor essence anything that she knows to move (Deer, Squirrels, Geese, Ducks, Ground Hogs, bunnies, Skunks, Chipmunks, Cats, Dogs, etc), also on dog treats and people carrying same.
Not sure about MJ and worse.

This is pure crap legalism. A dog is an animal used as an instrument - it is NOT an "officer."
The same cops who get all weepy over a scratch on their "officer dogs" as they send them to go after your throat, will blow YOUR dog into a fine red mist and then train multiple firearms on you and dare you to twitch if you react to their cold-blooded and completely uneccesary murder of your beloved pet.
And that's just a damn fact, and EVERYONE knows it.
