Personal question | April 10, 2014 | Self

Posted on 04/10/2014 6:07:40 AM PDT by BobNative

Recently I could not get my copy of Adobe FlashPlayer to work.

I have tried to reload it a couple of times, with NO success.

I am on a Windows based system. Any suggestions???

Many, many THANKS for your help!

Any recent Flash player updates or windows updates? You might try to reset your computer to a time when Flash was working.

make sure that you close your browser (all of them) after installing the plugin.

Go to Control Panel and Un-install it. Then try downloading the latest version. I recall the same thing happening to me a while back. It took me several tries............

Did you uninstall the old copy first?

Agreed, except do a restart after un-installing, and before re-installing, to sort of clear all the gremlins.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Use their uninstaller.
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then install a new copy of Flash.
You can either try their main page for Flash or get a direct copy.

(Released 4/8/2014) Flash Player 13.0.0.182 (148.88 MB)

I also suggest downloading the free version of CCleaner and Glary Utilities to help clear out the registry..........

I had something similar happen and eventually I had to uninstall and reinstall my browsers. Something broke during an upgrade.

I had a Win 7 32 bit machine that experienced the same issue - nothing I would do would allow it to work. I finally decided to bite the bullet and reinstalled Win 7 in the 64 bit configuration which I had been putting off because I did not know where all the software program disks were. NOW EVERYTHING IS GREAT and I added more RAM (which I could not do under 32 bit configuration - well I could add more than 4Gb but Win will not recognize it).
