A Boston BMW owner made the mistake of parking illegally in front of a fire hydrant, so fire fighters battling an 8-alarm blaze simply smashed a hose through the windows Wednesday night.
It appears to be an act of retaliation at first, but firefighters say the fire hose must be as straight as possible to maintain water pressure.
And with this multi-home inferno, they needed everything in perfect working order.

I suspect that there are plenty of BMW owners who could use some object lessons in common courtesy.

I think they should have used their tools to remove the center portion of the cars so the hose could be as straight as possible.
I am with the Fire Department on this one.
Is there something about a BMW that makes the owner think he is better than anybody else?
Or does he buy a BMW because he thinks he is better than anybody else?
...or...the jackass BMW driver could NOT park his car in front of hydrants for this very reason!
There is one driver just a little wiser about parking in front of a hydrant. Maybe. Depends on whom the driver voted for in the last 2 elections.
Actually, in that first photo the hose looks like it has a kink in it. And also that there’s no way to run the hose under or over the car without having a similar kink. I don’t think the firefighters had much time to think the matter over. And the BMW guy deserves a big fine for obstructing the hydrant.

I think they did it because they could. If they used one of the side outlets on the hydrant and it probably would have been quicker than smashing the windows and feeding the hose through, but less entertaining.
NP, the engineer, confirms this fluid dynamics principle, and notes that the hose connections on the hydrant are often at car window height.
Straight out of the hydrant would often be directly through the side windows.
I wonder how many illegals were displaced by this fire.....

The car owner should be glad he’s going to have to replace some windows and pay a fine. Car could have been filled with water. I am with the firefighters on this one.
