Posted on 04/11/2014 2:18:37 PM PDT by BBell
The marginalization of other voices is now complete.
The cross-promotion of more white male celebrities prove it: The entertainment industry has perfected the development of white, cis, straight, male characters. The marginalization of other voices except when those others are brought in only to aid in the cheap punch line of a joke is complete. This is aggression that we do not have to accept. We will protest this until it ends.
Many dismissed the protest we undertook last month with #CancelColbert, a hashtag we set up in response to a blatantly racist Tweet about Asians from the Colbert shows account.
We think people are surprised to see that their monolithic view of Asian Americans as a model minority is being challenged. We are not the problem. Your stereotypes and narrow roles for us are the problem.

What a bimbo. Still living with her parents?
Mmmm.. Chop suey pork...
We will be stuck with the blowhard Colbert for years.
And your choice is to attack her?
” I have more color then her.”
But they tan up so beautifully in the Summer! Believe me, I know!
Trouble is, fifteen minutes later you want to laugh at her again.
Anybody who doesn’t know that we in mainstream America has never seen the word “cis”, or know what it means, has nothing to say to us.
As for Colbert, I'm not stuck with him. I've never seen his show and I've not seen the late show in years and from the looks of it I won't see the late show again anytime soon.
The word CIS has something to do with sexual identity. I know it is used in some of the 50+ gender identity choices allowed by Facebook.
But, I don’t know what it means.
“asian” is an overly broad category. It includes people whose backgrounds are extremely different. A Thai is totally different from a Saudi. A Japanese is completely different from a Pakistani. Not even the same planet, let alone the same continent.
“asian” was chosen so as to deliberately create a huge victim category. Just as “gay” was broadened to “LGBT”. There is nothing remotely similar about a gay woman and a “transgendered” whatever. Nothing. Yet they are now both in the same victim category.
Enough with the victim categories.
Let her keep protesting, I’m sure Colbert welcomes the free publicity.
Her name is “Suey”? Oh that is just begging for the nickname “Chop Suey”, but that would be racist, wouldn’t it?
I don’t know what”cis” means.
I’m not laughing. I’m tired if the victimhood syndrome that loves to make mountains out of molehills. I don’t know what you mean about laughing at her 15 minutes from now.
Unless you're using made-up words and terminology to feel good about yourself and somehow superior over people who have gone about their lives unaware of your made-up verbiage for your made-up problems.
Judging by the background in post #2, I would say “yes”.
Commonwealth of Independent States?
I agree wholeheartedly. You can be a white Russian from Siberia or anywhere west of the Urals and you are an Asian. Indian, Pakistani etc. and you are an Asian.
What? Straight, white males? Our founding fathers would be turning over in their graves.
LOL, that’s why I posed the question.
Computer and informational Sciences? I thought it meant Commonwealth of Independent States.
Maybe not, but the country will.
I guess your right in the same sense I am stuck with “The View” of which I have not only never seen but I know no one who has. I can’t say the same about colbert or the late show.
None of us do. She lives in a world where it’s as common a descriptor as “white” and “male”, and “other” is used as a verb. She might as well be speaking a different language.
Cisgender and cissexual (often abbreviated to simply cis) describe related types of gender identity where an individual's experience of their own gender matches the sex they were assigned at birth. Sociologists Kristen Schilt and Laurel Westbrook define cisgender as a label for "individuals who have a match between the gender they were assigned at birth, their bodies, and their personal identity" as a complement to transgender. Prominent gay activist John Aravosis considers the term "a slur against non-trans people."
The protesters are not of the government approved race
I choose to ignore it, unless it's spoken, in which case, I might respond, "'Cyst?' You mean like cancer?"
Well ok. I had decided to make no effort whatsoever to find out what it means, for the same reason I make no effort to try to speak Spanish in the U.S. It probably won’t take much effort to put it back out of my memory.
What does his remark have to do with us being stuck with Colbert? Are you saying any attack on Colbert is alright just because Colbert is a clueless lib? The person attacking Colbert is extremely thin-skinned. Colbert’s remark was an attempt at satire...a very lame attempt. But too many people take offense at virtually everything.
I plan on not watching Colbert like I didn’t watch Letterman...like I’m not going to watch Fallon either. The only one of these late night guys I like is Jimmy Kimmel.....but I can’t justify saying up that late to watch his show. I do listen to his pod casts on I Heart Radio..and like I say, I think he’s funny.
Yes, they do. Mine is a Filipina.
Wonderful, isn’t it? My lady friend and her daughter are just stunning when they get tanned up. But I’m biased! I think Asian women are the most beautiful women on the planet!
Yes they are, and hard headed too, but that is OK.
” hard headed too,”
Yup! Anyone who thinks they are submissive is very wrong! I butt heads with Yi constantly! It ain’t easy!
Hmmm, I see a chink in your thinking...
She is SO 70's.
"Woman of color" really translates into:
I have brains but absolutely no ambition but to get back at those who persecute me. No, I don't know who "they" are but they ARE persecuting me and I don't like it.
I have oodles of education but I don't wanna do anything for a living cuz I am OWED by all those people who disrespect me. No, I don't know who they are but I don't like them!
My mother is a
bwitch. My dad is always out gambling. And who cares cuz when he's home all my parents to is fight about money.
I want. I don't know what I want, but I WANT. Wah!!!
Well, I DO know what I want.
I want blonde hair, blue eyes, a nice big, round butt and big, big natural boobs.
Yeah, yeah, everyone says I'm FABULOUSLY beautiful but I want blonde hair, blue eyes, a nice big, round butt and big, big natural boobs.
You haven't been around a whole lot of Asian women.
I taught thousands of them during my 44 years of teaching and I can tell you that there are some really ooogly ones. There are about the SAME percentage of beautiful young women everywhere.
That you like them better than any other women shows that you don't appreciate your own very much...and that's a shame.
Side note: ABC's, American Born Chinese have their Asian sisters and brothers beaten all to heck. ABCs (both male and female) have butts, not the straight line from shoulders to heels.
They also have boobs (women) and chests (men), not the straight line from chin to pubic hair.
Chinese DON'T (usually) have a bridge on their nose so if they wear glasses, said glasses are down around the end of the nose, ready to drop off the face. Contact lenses, please.
Chinese women, as they age, usually start balding right at the top center of their hair: TOO many years of dying their hair black and doing perms. The two treatments are DEADLY for hair.
I guess the Asian women see "gray" as age. Many women do. But having lots of gray hair is better than having bald spots where there once WAS and is no more.
As a girl I was a natural blondie. As I aged, the hair got a bit less blonde.
So, at one time I had blonde highlights to keep me blonde. I also had a perm because my sister had really curly hair and I didn't.
The both of these treatments were TOO much for human hair. One day, after about eight months of doing this, I looked in the mirror and I looked like Bozo the Clown.
So, I went to the hairdresser and said: Cut it all off!!!
He did and left one inch of hair all around. My husband loved it but I wanted more hair there.
NOW I go for the highlights and skip the perm. My husband is gone, but he would like my hair now. I have always had LOTS of hair. I still do and it's still very thick and soft, naturally, and blonde, with a little help.
Are these people really that stupid ?
When the barbs hit closer to home, then it's different.
I get tired of the idea that liberal comedian jerks are always satirizing the "real bigots" who are somebody else, and rejoice in seeing this clown hoist by his own petard.
she looks Korean, but Colbert was doing a satire on the Chinese.
But I guess to liberal activists, all Asians look alike.
