Manning's conviction, 35-year sentence upheld By DAVID DISHNEAU
An Army general has upheld Private Chelsea Manning's conviction and 35-year prison sentence for giving reams of classified U.S. government information to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks, the Army said Monday.
The approval by Maj. Gen. Jeffery S. Buchanan, commander of the Military District of Washington, clears the way for an automatic appeal of the case to the Army Court of Criminal Appeals. Manning's appellate lawyers said Sunday that they expect their appeal to focus on issues including alleged misuse of the Espionage Act.

I bet the Kenyan pardons the freak before he leaves office.
Was not aware a Pvt. Chelsea Manning was convicted. Or serving a sentence. They must have gotten it mixed up. Pvt BRADLEY Manning is the MANs name.
“She” will be popular in the stockade, I’’d imagine .....
Wherever they place this military convict, he or she should be closely monitored. I get the impression this is someone with huge anger and blame issues. I can see him going all ‘kitchen knife’ on a group of inmates in the cafeteria. The guards should not turn their back on him either. A lot of disassociation going on there, and has been that way, untreated, for years.
The AP reporter does, but not sure the military does so. In the absence of "corrective" (or, perhaps "therapeutic") surgery and an updating of official records, doing so by the military would seem to raise a lot of issues.
If this happened during the Bush administration a pardon would be in the offing.
It is indeed absurd. It’s fine to point out, a few ‘grafs in, that Manning asserts transsexual status and prefers to be called Chelsea, BUT THAT he has not yet legally changed his name or gender. (Both of those changes are legally do-able, but my point is, he hasn’t done them YET.)
For losing the Super Bowl?
Hang the MFer.
Is the LGBT community and various liberals praising Bradley?Chelsea for coming out? Why did he/she/it wait until after the trial was over to come out? Since we’re supposed to be all liberal and society is screwed up for not accepting this, per the liberals, why did he/she/it. Obviously manipulate us and pick a certain time to come out????
I wonder how Private Manning is taking to life in Leavenworth? It now has to wear a tacky bright orange jumpsuit that it can’t even accessorize, and after all its effort to get a new name, it is just a number.
Got it covered.
Seriously, it’s amazing to me how flat out treason is treated in this country. Jane Fonda for example: Not one day in jail, not even a parking ticket. Benghazi: If they drag their feet any slower they’d call it being stopped. John Kerry: Oh, he has to be President. WTF? Look at the NY Times. Publishing military plans, from the Iraq invasion even as far back as the Bay of pigs invasion. They actually warned Castro of it and to this day they are still in business. Matter of fact there are so many things that are not enforced when it comes to the security of this country it’s insane, illegal immigration is one example. Yet if you don’t pay your taxes they destroy you.
Chopping vital parts off doesn’t change one’s sex.
It’s a “he.”
Gee Whiz! I thought Mark Steyn got to hand to someone his ass.
Just let the marines pass it around to some of those guys who have been there for a very long time. It works both ways well. Chelsea will get instant verification that they consider her a "B itch".
Nothing in your #13 response was displayed on my screen below your statement, “Got it covered.” Thought about that for a moment looking for some meaning and finally said to myself “OK” and then scrolled down.
The full color Hitchcock-like bloody axe literally jumped out at me. There was a millisecond of tightening in the “groinal” area (hat tip to A. Bunker) followed immediately by an involuntary laugh.
The trial record includes his own statements about how he was disappointed with the military for not providing him with sex change surgery. His actions were an egocentric, hissy-fit form of revenge. The average liberal, however, did not want to think of it in that way and held him up as a hero.
