Word For The Day, Tuesday April 15, 2014
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
1. a pithy or witty remark; bon mot .
2. Archaic . a note on a horn, bugle, etc.
[ 162535; < French < Late Latin muttum utterance. See motto]
la sudadera [soo-dah-DEHR-ah]
Las niñas estaban vestidas en sudaderas azules idénticas.
The girls were wearing identical blue sweatshirts
Up an at ‘em.
While many are familiar with the term bon mot, Obama seems to only spew mal mots as he tries to seem more intellectual than the rest of us.
Ohhh, it ain’t gonna rain no mot, no mot...
beat me to it.
indeed : )
Potato pancakes with applesauce?
It’s supposed to be pork chops and applesauce.
ok, so i didn’t put the a/c on the past few days, but may need to put the HEAT on tonight! i had just put away my space heater in my ofc and i bet i have to take it back out.
in my house it was potato pancakes with applesauce or sour cream. maybe it was the HEALTHY alternative to top the FRIED item ; )
Are you using unauthorized electrical devices in your office? ;-)
Yep. With the Peter Brady Humphrey Bogart sound...
hey the secretary gave me a power strip for it...
i will often wake up in the middle of the night, wondering if i had turned it off.
Scratch that it wasn’t Bogart... EGR I think, but I’m not thru that first cup of coffee yet.
All it needs is butter.
Try a timer....Peace of Mind. 10 bucks.
it was $15 for the space heater.
I was thinking more or less of
A: Peace of mind,
B: Cost of fire.
Set it Forget it. Then you only need worry about turning the heater on.
Added Bonus, if you forget to turn it off, you come in to a toasty ofc!
PVI is a local Catholic HS. He announced this live at 10 pm with @BMitchliveCSN. Not quite sure what the Brian mitchell connection was, because he was a Redskin. Comcast is so weird, they will have NONhockey people do some little blurb between periods and it's totes ridic when Bmitch comments on the Caps. SU was a surprise pick.
So, would that make witty sexual banter from a lady of the evening, Ho Mot Erotic?
It freaks me out when you type what I’m thinking. Stop it.
If it pleases you, yes.
I’m glad he’s happy. It’s a long way till basketball season.
and the kid doesn’t come until the year AFTER this coming season. so he will go to PVI games to scout him next winter. RME.
Each time Barry spews a bon mot
I scream at the t.v., “No, no!”
I don’t care for his lies
Humor cannot disguise
The fact that this tyrant must go
so because it’s TAX DAY today, Lee Hwy will be slowed to a crawl, even more so than usual. the regional PO is there and they have a separate lane set up so you don’t have to drive into the lot, but just drop the tax forms on the highway, with a PO employee. Raining like an SOB, so bound to be miserable all the way around.
Rainy and cold here, in the 30s. I hate that winter is hanging on with her brittle, icy fingers.
not cold yet, here. going down to 26 tonight. it was 70 when i left the house this AM.
supposed to be nice by Sunday. I still have to get stuff for Easter baskets for the kids.
How old is too old for Easter baskets? Spouse and I disagree. I say if they are still living at home, they get one. He says stop at 12.
Peter Brady’s brother was on All My Children, back in the day. Tad Martin, the bad boy.
Yep.back when Erica Kane was still hot, and Adam had designs on her.
Until there are grandchildren. i like doing it and i am going to continue.
Boy, did you just give yourself away!
i miss the Easter Egg hunts, though. Can’t get the dogs to do it properly ; )
I turned off the air conditioning yesterday morning - opened two windows and within an hour had to close them because it was cold....later had to turn on the heat. We went from 73 to the mid 40’s yesterday
Now that we are all adults, there is one family basket. However, until after college they got their own. Just less candy more adult gifts like books, gift cards and just a bit of their favorite candy.
You are a soap fan? Who knew. RME
i don’t do a ton of candy, it is more small gifts like you mentioned, gift cards, lipgloss etc for xsgirls, etc.
82 on Sunday, 37 now. Supposed to be down to 21 tonight.
It’s raining now, with just a hint of a flake or two in there.
Wow - that beats our temp drop! In the Texas panhandle it was more like your numbers and they had some snow!
xsbro and xsSIL were in AZ for about 5 days, for a wedding and mini-vaca,and left 88 degrees to return to Houston yesterday and have it be cold!
The UPS guy is ROUTINELY leaving two dog biscuits with whatever pkgs he leaves. Now, we get pkgs almost daily between me buying dresses for the wedding [am shopping exclusively online, as the stores allow you return stuff to the stores, and shipping is free. I buy anything that looks like a possibility, have returned around 5 so far, kept two prospects] and xsteen ordering stuff, so it is just wild that he leaves them every day. Last Friday, the FedEx guy knocked, and the dogs ran to the door and there was NO TREAT! they were soooo disappointed. Not to worry, the UPS guy came later and he didn’t disappoint.
