Ikea Plans 'Green' Meatballs to Help Tackle Climate Change

'Veg balls' to be launched as eco-friendly alternative to famous Swedish meatballs, which Ikea admits are damaging the planet

Ikea is developing a new 'green' version of its famous Swedish meatballs in order to cut carbon emissions and help tackle climate change, the retailer has revealed.

The flat-pack furniture giant sells an estimated 150 million meatballs, made from beef and pork, in its cafes each year.

But the popular snack is also the least environmentally-friendly item on the Ikea menu, because of high carbon dioxide emissions involved in the farming process and high methane gas emissions from cattle.

Ikea is so concerned about the contribution to global warming from the meatballs that it is now developing “vegetarian meatballs” as an eco-friendly alternative.

"We are aware of the meat issue with greenhouse gases,” Joanna Yarrow, head of sustainability for Ikea in the UK, said. “We are looking at all our food products from a sustainability perspective but specifically meatballs. They are very popular and they are also our most carbon-intensive food item on our menu.”

There is no Greenhouse Effect occurring. Period!

Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide - Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts? By Timothy Ball

No Smoking Hot Spot (The Australian)

The missing hotspot (JoNova)

Those two articles take Greenhouse Theory at face value and by the criterion set up in the theory itself finds no evidence of warming on the basis of greenhouse effect.

Sky-high hole blown in AGW theory?

"Forbes reports on a peer-reviewed study that uses NASA data to show that the effects of carbon-based warming have been significantly exaggerated. In fact, much of the heat goes out into space rather than stay trapped in the atmosphere, an outcome that started long before AGW alarmists predicted:"

That article explains why no Hot Spot has been found.

The Hidden Flaw in Greenhouse Theory

Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics

Harvard astrophysicist dismisses AGW theory, challenges peers to 'take back climate science'

It Is Impossible For A 100 ppm Increase In Atmospheric CO2 Concentration To Cause Global Warming

Simple Chemistry and the Real Greenhouse Effect.

Those five articles each show that Greenhouse Theory has no basis in reality due to a direct conflict with the known laws of physics. No wonder the smoking gun "hotspot" can't be found.

Claim That Sea Level Is Rising Is a Total Fraud

That article kills any thought of planetary warming from any cause. Think about it. If there is absolutely no sign of rising sea levels how could the planet be warming? The rise in sea level in the last 100 years is far less than the average over the last 40,000 years caused by the inter-glacial period we are in.

The veggie ones, yes.

Are they doing away with the meat or just also offering the veggie balls as well?

If you leave the regular meatballs out long enough, they will turn green.

They’ll probably just put a carbon tax on the real meatballs (to fatten up the bank account of the real meatball, Al Gore).

Idiots. All flesh is grass. Ruminants can digest fiberous material others can’t converting it into protein we can digest. They are the ultimate solar conversion machines.

How does clearing a field, planting a crop, harvesting a crop, processing a crop (almost certainly all done mechanically), create less pollution than a steer eating grass and us eating him?

If they’re not meatballs, they shouldn’t be called meatballs.

Their meatballs are dog food.

Make your own sausage and find out what offal you are being fed.

Switching to vegetable matter is easy, cheap and stupid.

Go eat dandelion greens instead . . .

. . . or real meat:

Now all they need to do is to hunt down some male vegans and castrate them.

I get a big kick out of going to IKEA and watching all the big, fat Americans checking out the tiny Euro apartment mock-ups.

So many of us lack self-awareness.

How in hell can anybody pay actual money for Ikea’s hideously ugly furniture? Are their customers frigging blind?
