THE SIEGE OF the Waco compound belonging to the religious group Branch Davidians by the US military and police took place between 28 February and 19 April 1993. The Branch Davidians was a sect that separated from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1955 and were led by David Koresh. In the run up to the siege, a local newspaper had printed a series of stories about the cult’s leader Koresh, stating that he had physically abused children in the compound and had committed statutory rape by taking multiple underage brides. Koresh, an advocate for polygamy was married to several women from the cult’s community. It was also believed that the cult was stockpiling weapons.

No interest in your government killing 80 mostly innocent people.

OK.

Here, jackass, try reading the constitution:

Amendment VIII (1791)
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

I think it could have easily stopped if David Koresh would have talked with authorities.

The ATF came in to kill people. There was no reason to conduct an armed assault. They could have detained him in town on almost any day.

The Branch Davidians had a couple of AR-15 autosears for which they had not bought the $200 tax stamps.

79 people were murdered over a few hundred dollars of unpaid taxes.

No. No need. They suffered the consequences of being stupid and stubborn. 200 dollars for his life. I would not risk my life and the lives of others over 200 dollars. My gosh with 58 people living in that cult, they each give 4 bucks and they would still be living in their commune. Sorry but that is just dumb.

‘Freepers’ like this make me want to write my own front-end to FR to include an ‘ignore’ button.

"I didn’t know Holder was involved until fairly recently."

Is there good proof holder was involved in the Waco massacre?

They could of picked him up in town, alone, easily.

They chose not to, they instead chose to do this.

Dead on. Only a liberal hates half this country then claims to be “inclusive”, “tolerant”, and “understanding”.

I find anyone hating the south to be a liberal and that judgment has never been wrong.

Liz, you have this on file (of course you do :)?

It’s in a recent thread on FR but I don’t think it’s in the title.

Jamie Gorelick was the deputy AG during that period under Janet Reno. Holder replaced Gorelick. That doesn't mean Holder wasn't involved, but I haven't found proof.

I'm still pissed that Dick Rogers wasn't sent to prison, preferably for life in general population.

“I am not going to rehash this because I don’t have that much interest in the story.”

Are you serious? I’m not even American and this concerns me greatly. I remember being 17 years old watching this on tv, and thinking even then, when are the heroes going to show up. I couldn’t believe the government did this to it’s own people, in AMERICA! It’s supposed to be the home of the free and the home of the brave!

I can’t believe you’d say that, that’s not an American thing to say.

The government has a permanent solution for that. What can they do for you?™

Proper law enforcement would have left the SWAT team at home and arrested him on his jog. They wanted to wave their dicks out and be glory hounds, and became babykillers in the process. Too bad Dick Rogers wasn’t offed in the raid.

Epic govt fail. ATF could’ve got Koresh anytime he left that compound.

With a cult like Koresh’s govt agents should know better than going in the compound with guns ready. Just stupid!
