Kenny Loggins Concert Will Wrap Up GOP Convention in Fort Wayne
News Sentinel ^ | Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Kenny Loggins, a soft-rock star in the 1970s, will perform in a free concert for delegates to the Republican State Convention and their families.

The convention will be in Fort Wayne in June. Loggins' concert will be at 8 p.m. June 7 at Embassy Theatre.

“The Kenny Loggins concert will be the grand finale for what promises to be the best Indiana GOP convention ever,” said Steve Shine, Allen County Republican Party chairman, in announcing the concert. “We are looking forward to welcoming delegates from all over the state to Fort Wayne, where we plan to showcase the very best our state has to offer.”

The state convention will be June 6 and 7, and this is the first time it is being held in Fort Wayne. About 1,775 delegates from throughout the state are invited.

When I moved from Ohio to Indiana, they told me “if you liked Akron, you’ll love Fort Wayne”.

Actually 30 yrs later the Fort looks a LOT better than Akron does.

Nothing like reinforcing the stereotype that Republicans are a bunch of fuddy-duds. Kenny Loggins? Seriously? Is Huey Lewis and the News going to open?

I’ve heard Kenny Loggins is personally in dire economic straits. Maybe he blames the democrats.

Too bad Dan Fogleberg died a few years back. Maybe they can get Bertie Higgins for 2016.

I’ve heard Kenny Loggins is personally in dire economic straits.

He should've done pretty well for himself. Back when Loggins was famous, people actually paid for music.

YEah. I've still got Keep the Fire somewhere down in the basement.

The kids found it the other week and had a good laugh.

One of Loggins’s biggest hits was the theme to a movie which was all about defeating square, old, conservative white guys.

No, but there are plenty of appropriate modern acts that the GOP could book. Neko Case; War on Drugs; Arcade Fire; Imagine Dragons; Built To Spill and Arctic Monkeys just to name a few.
