The critics are pouncing on Avril Lavigne.
The Canadian singers latest music video, for single Hello Kitty, has been met with almost universal scorn, with the four-minute long clip decried by critics as everything from lazy and embarrassing to the worst thing youll watch all week.
The video for Hello Kitty, the third single from Lavignes self-titled 2013 album, landed late Tuesday. In it, the pop songstress cavorts with a group of stonefaced Japanese women as she puts forward her best arigato and suggests that she and a pal roll around in our underwear, how every silly kitty should be.
The U.K. Mirror seemed lukewarm on the video, designating it so bad that its actually quite good, a bit like anything by Rebecca Black.
Avrils new song borrows some of Skrillexs trademark noises, The Mirror notes under a header claiming that Hello Kitty sounds like a Skrillex song that got lodged in a dishwasher.

Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams...F*$# Canada!
Horriffic voice (even with my high frequency hearing loss), but I’d vote not guilty.
The song is silly, and not very good, but not anywhere as bad/culturally dangerous as the (c)rap that gets put out on a daily basis. The snark media is creating another sensation, and is trying to justify its existence by acting like self important crank assess.
May seem racist, but I don’t think all Caucasians should be judged by her.
Now Now, the Canadian Government has Apologized for Bryan Adams on Several Occasions.
LOL!
NO question that it is a dreadful video — unwatchable.
But this must be the wrong link — there is no racially offensive content in the video you linked to.
Guess they forget Konichiwa B!tches

And she’s married to the guy from Nickleback.
So much suck, under one roof.
Um, no. That would be a video of the latest hit by a rapper by the name of Fly Young Red.
Google it. I'm not gonna provide a link.
Poor Avril. She thinks she’s still seventeen.
Good God, that’s awful. I could only last 20 seconds, and that was too long. Hip hop sucks and it’s not music in any sense of the word.
But where’s the racism?
I think the critics are missing what she is doing. She is making a pitch for J(apanese)-Pop. J-Pop is loaded with this kind of kitsch, and having it led by a Canadian girl makes it that much more interesting to that audience.
Examples (you might as well turn off the noise and just look at the imagery. It just doesn’t translate here.)
