It’s been debated for years, but now the city of Minneapolis has decided to change from celebrating Columbus Day to observing Indigenous People’s Day instead.
Columbus Day has been a federal holiday since 1937, though not all states observe it, including Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, and South Dakota.
The day has long been a hot button issue over whether it is offensive to the American Indian culture to credit Christopher Columbus with the discovery of America.
On Friday, the Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to approve the proposal to rename the day Indigenous People’s Day.
The designation would be observed on all city communications.

So, how do they celebrate “indigenous people’s day”? Do they raid each others’ neighborhoods and steal their women?
They should put their money where their mouth is,then! If they REALLY want to “take a stand”,just eliminate it as a paid holiday!
I doubt seriously our “leaders” would ever cost themselves a long weekend,though!
Minneapolis needs to deed their city property back to the Indians from whom their ancestors took it.

Notice how the left is trying (and succeeding at some) to change the names of all our holidays. American traditions going away. Another step in getting rid of our country’s culture. Soon there will be nothing recognizable left.
