Florida woman loses battle for insurance coverage after home was damaged by ‘exploding’ corpse

A Florida appeals court judge has ruled that an insurer is not liable for damages that occurred to an apartment after a neighbor's dead body 'exploded.'

Judy Rodrigo battled State Farm for almost six years, arguing that the insurer of her Jupiter condo should pay for the clean-up of her apartment.

She argued that the Keystone Condominium Association left the neighbor's corpse so long that the body's fluid leaked into her apartment.

Not in the mood to sling a few arrows, testing whether your fortune is outrageous or not?

Does a rupturing body sound like a bursting pipe?

More like a loud fart, I'd imagine.

A bursting pipe might kill me, but a rupturing body will at most gross me out.

"I'm the exploded corpse lying in the condo next door to you. And if you've got a lazy condo association, you're paying for cleaning up my stinky bodily fluids that have leaked into your living room yourself."

Actually, it reminds me of a murder case belonging to a client of the late GOP-e senator from Pennsylvania, Arlen Spector.

Seems counselor Spector's client, Ira Einhorn, of progressive Earth Day 1970 fame, had a girlfriend, Holly Maddux, who went missing (1979). Her parents hired a PI who got a warrant to search Einhorn's apartment. A downstairs neighbor told of a liquid leaking from his apartment into the kitchen below, describing it as being dark in color and smelling of putrefaction. He also testified to hearing a scream, as well as "several sharp thuds", at the time of Holly's disappearance.

Einhorn skipped bail and fled to Europe, but was eventually extradited back (from France, in 2001) and now rots in the can.

And people claim only cats, not “puppies” resort to the practical in such circumstances.

Yes. I had the same memory.

The name “Arlen Spector” always raises that specter in my mind.

For me, that was the defining moment in his career.

As a FF we sometimes have to force entry into house where
resident has been deceased for a while.....

We use our SCBA (Scott packs) or lend them to police or
coroner while doing the body removal

Odd argument, as if the association knew there was a corpse and just left it there.

Like you’ve never been too busy to move a corpse.
