Long Beach Police Fatally Shoot Unarmed Suspect As He Runs Away
NBC Los Angeles ^ | Samia Khan and Gadi Schwartz

Long Beach Police officers had an "obstructed view" when they opened fire on a man who was allegedly running from a standoff Sunday, according to a press release issued Monday.

"Long Beach officers, who were located on the beach, east of the foot of the stairs with an obstructed view due to palm trees and shrubbery, heard gunshots from above and saw the suspect running toward the populated beach area," the press release stated. "The suspect failed to surrender and after officers observed him reaching or his waist band, an officer involved shooting occurred."

"This is why when I hear about a cop getting shot, I really could care less... Live by the sword, die by the sword."

Let's say there is a homeowner who believes in carrying a firearm on his person, and he believes in using deadly force to protect himself and his property. Suddenly he is confronted by an armed burglar. The homeowner draws his pistol and fires, missing the suspect. The suspect returns fire, killing the homeowner. By your creed, "you really could care less" because: "Live by the sword, die by the sword."

Not at all...

The cops are government sponsored organized crime. They murder unarmed people. ALL (not just the cop that pulled the trigger) must be held responsible.

If the homeowner shot an unarmed burglar, that could be different. I’m not against anyone going up against an armed suspect in a firefight. That would be self defense. That’s not what is happening.

Again?

The kops claim there were shots fired but the person fleeing had no weapons in his hand...Obviously it wasn’t him that was shooting...It likely was the kops behind him, shooting at him...

Looks like the runner did the only thing he could do to try to save his life...When the kops are out to kill you, they won’t stop even if they have to burn you out...

Not aggressive? Sad to see the guy lose his life but he was given multiple opportunities to surrender.

Don't blame the cops on this one.

The kops lied about the runner reaching for a gun...But we are supposed to believe they are telling the truth about the rest of the story???

Memo to self, if your pants are falling off, don’t reach for your waistband...

They shot him at least twice...They eventually meander up to him, put a foot on his head, roll him over and handcuff him...

Go to the following link about the 2:00 minute mark and see what happens. This guy is
running down an outside stairway fleeing the premises and is shot when he get near
the bottom. He was posing no threat, imo. Now there maybe other things not seen in
the video that would counter my observation.

Sounds like a simple case of suicide by cop. If you are going to be in a standoff and going to reach for stuff, be prepare to be baptized by lead.

Read the story and watch the video.

That’s typical of their cowardly behavior. Do you have that video on hand?

Let's change the scenario then.

A woman is walking down the sidewalk a couple of blocks from her house. A male jumps out of the bushes and punches her in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her and she falls to her knees. He rips off her blouse and bra. She manages to get a pistol from her purse but he grabs it and kills her with her own handgun. By your creed, “you really could care less” because: “Live by the sword, die by the sword.” She was armed and he wasn't.

"I see that your comprehension hasn’t gotten any better."

You have directed an unwarranted insult and have contributed nothing of value to this discussion.

Your sick... Not even close. She would be defending her self, the cop was murdering an unarmed civilian.

“The suspect failed to surrender and after officers observed him reaching or his waist band, an officer involved shooting occurred”

I’m calling bullshit with that one. Every time they screw up, it is “He was reaching for his waistband.” Pigs teach each other the words to say when they kill someone. Same for that Wesley Chapel prick who killed a man in a movie theater.

And if they heard a gun shot, why is he reaching for his waistband?

Not the same at all. The home owner isn’t eager for his kill in life. Cops are. The home owner doesn’t work himself up into a paranoid condition. Cops do work themselves up. Look at the bitch who killed a kid holding a wii. Her fear was uncontrolled. Same with those in the Dorner hunt. And many other incidents.

There is no sense of reasonable fear among LE, and no sense of the harm they cause. It is always “Awww, shucks. At least the cop made it home. That is all that matters.”

When cops don’t value our lives, why should we value theirs?

Just one more scenario then.

An off duty officer is at home and it's his 6 year old's daughter's birthday. He has a surprise present for her but it is at a neighbor's because he was worried that she would find the gift too soon. He leaves the house unarmed, and gets the gift. On the way back a subject confronts him. The subject is armed with a pistol and said he recognizes the officer who arrested him and sent him to prison and he's going to kill him. The officer is unarmed but he wrestles with the subject, and with both of their hands on the gun, he manages to turn the gun to the suspect and fires, killing the suspect.

Regarding the suspect: “you really could care less,” because: “Live by the sword, die by the sword.”

Also in keeping with your beliefs: "The cops are government sponsored organized crime. They murder unarmed people."

In this scenario would the cop be wrong to fight for his life? Does he not have the right to return to his wife and young daughter?
