Efrem Zimbalist Jr., who portrayed the indefatigable Inspector Lewis Erskine on the long-running U.S. television series "The F.B.I.", died on Friday at the age of 95, according to media reports.
Zimbalist died of natural causes at his home in Solvang, California, his daughter, actress Stephanie Zimbalist, and his son Efrem Zimbalist III, said in a statement, Hollywood trade magazine Variety and other media reported.
"A devout Christian, he actively enjoyed his life to the last day, showering love on his extended family, playing golf, and visiting with close friends," the statement said, according to Variety.

He was also great as Alfred on Batman TAS.

For some reason I would always mix up Efrem Zimbalist with John Forsyth who died a few years ago at 92.
When someone mentions 77 Sunset Strip, I'll bet every person of a certain age has the theme run through their heads and then click their fingers.
Some years ago I was watching a documentary on tv about early cop shows, and someone mentioned the show. I started singing the theme out loud, and when I got to the part where they click their fingers, my wife clicked hers. She grew up in England where the show was popular in syndication.
Yes, there were quite a few ribald playground ditties I heard on my school playground which would have earned some unwanted punishment from the nuns if they had found out. Of course, at the age most of were, we didn’t understand 90% of the implications of many of the charming numbers.

No his daughter starred in Remington Steele in the 1980s. The Girl From UNCLE was a 1960s spinoff series that lasted 1 season and starred Stephanie Powers.
