So our last report saw Mexican troops invading our borders -- even drawing weapons on our agents on U.S. soil -- and facing absolutely no consequences by the Obama Adminstration.
But let one American make a wrong turn into Mexico -- and there will be hell to pay.
That's exactly what happened to a U.S. Marine veteran last month, after he accidentally drove into Mexico with three legally owned guns in his truck. And he has been rotting in a brutal Mexican jail in Tijuana ever since.
California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter sent a letter Friday to Secretary of State John Kerry asking him to secure the release of Afghanistan war veteran Andrew Tahmooressi, who had just moved to San Diego from Florida and had all his belongings in his truck, including his pistol, shotgun and rifle, when he missed the last U.S. exit on April 1, forcing him to cross the border.
Road closures because of checkpoints and construction added to the confusion, and there was no opportunity for drivers to turn around, Hunter added.

Missing the last exit didn’t stop him from stopping BEFORE the border. He took a chance and got caught.
As paranoid as I am, I would have called a friend and asked them to bring a case, duffle bag, etc. to me before the border and drop off the cases, then the friend could have gone through and immediately returned and stopped on the other side of the road, whatever, and he could have transferred the stuff.
It has no bearing whatsoever. He did a dumbass thing and got caught.

The road is like a freeway - one way, with barriers on each shoulder. If you miss the last U.S. exit, you can’t turn around, back up, or otherwise reroute. If the last exit was closed for construction, he was in trouble. In retrospect, it would have been better to just shut down, right there, and let the Calif. Highway Patrol tow his vehicle to a storage yard.

Mexico has strong firearm laws and enforces them. I know a person that crossed
the border with one shotgun shell in his vehicle. He spent some six months in
the prison system before being release. .
The Mexes must be pissed about that “halls of Montezuma” thing.
Sense and wisdom come with age. I can imagine 40 or so years ago where I might have done something as dumbass as this, but even then I tried to be aware and knowledgeable about things that matter. He didn’t.
Don’t ya just love all the sympathy this guy is getting from so-called Freedom loving Freepers?
