An Israeli archaeologist says he has found the legendary citadel captured by King David in his conquest of Jerusalem, rekindling a longstanding debate about using the Bible as a field guide to identifying ancient ruins.
The claim by Eli Shukron, like many such claims in the field of biblical archaeology, has run into criticism. It joins a string of announcements by Israeli archaeologists saying they have unearthed palaces of the legendary biblical king, who is revered in Jewish religious tradition for establishing Jerusalem as its central holy citybut who has long eluded historians looking for clear-cut evidence of his existence and reign.
The present-day Israeli-Palestinian conflict is also wrapped up in the subject. The $10 million excavation, made accessible to tourists last month, took place in an Arab neighborhood of Jerusalem and was financed by an organization that settles Jews in guarded homes in Arab areas of east Jerusalem in an attempt to prevent the city from being divided. The Palestinians claim east Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, as the capital of a future independent state.

Quite the news.
Great example of how some articles try to bash the Bible when the news itself intrinsically supports it. Nice going, yet again, mass media atheists.
At some point the Arabs will claim King David was a Palestinian....
FYI - 2 Samuel 5:6-8 found?
“And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you, thinking, David cannot come in here.”
“Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).”
“Now David said on that day, Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by Davids soul), he shall be chief and captain.”
well, with all the inter-mixing of blood, I’d be surprised if some west bank Arabs do not have Jewish and thereby Davidic blood
When is Israel going to push out the Muslim occupiers once and for all?
maybe when they stop giving a damn about what obamma mamba jamma lenin khomeini thinks..
Seriously? Doubting the EXISTENCE of David? LOL.
I think they’re more concerned with what the Eurocrats in Brussels think. (Which is who Obama is taking his cue from more than any other “world” politician.)
The $10 million excavation, made accessible to tourists last month, took place in an Arab neighborhood of Jerusalem and was financed by an organization that settles Jews in guarded homes in Arab areas of east Jerusalem in an attempt to prevent the city from being divided. The Palestinians claim east Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967...In the 1948 War of Independence, Jordan invaded; eastern Jerusalem was held by Jordan, which had the best army in the field at the time; immediately thereafter the Hashemite regime ethnically cleansed the territory it had illegally seized and occupied, and afaik Jordan remains one of the few countries in the world where no Jews live. Arabs illegally squatted in the forcibly vacated properties -- owned by Jews -- in the Jordanian-occupied areas, and since 1967 the Israeli courts have managed to drag their feet over the process of evicting the squatters.
Why not, since it would make sense to them? They already claim he was a Muslim, when they admit to his existence.
Oh, and Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael (but not so much Isaac), Moses, and even Jesus were Muslims, too.
Doctrinally, Mad Mo didn't "begin" Islam; he, as the "Final Prophet" only reiterated the "correct" and "pure" message that "the Peoples of the Book" had lost or distorted over the ages. He was simply calling (yeah, right; "calling" with a sword & lies) people "back" to the "true" (Satan inspired) religion of old.
It all goes back to their claim that Ishmael, not Isaac, was "the child of the Covenant of Abraham; that Jacob/Israel and The Children were usurpers.
