Hash oil explosions rise with legalized marijuana

The opening months of Colorado’s first-in-the-nation recreational marijuana industry have seen a rise in fiery explosions and injuries as pot users try to make the drug’s intoxicating oil in crude home-based laboratories.

Since Jan. 1, when sales began, the state’s only certified adult burn center has treated 10 people with serious injuries they suffered while making hash oil, compared with 11 in 2013 and one in 2012.

Law enforcement and fire officials, meanwhile, are grappling with how to respond, as the questionable legality of the process has made it difficult to punish amateur chemists. Some prosecutors are charging them with felonies, while others say hash oil production is protected under a provision of the new legal pot law. …

I think there is a lot of positive things to come in the future with legalization, especially in MS and Cancer Research! Check out this site http://phoenixtears.ca/
I find it very typical of our government to tell us that there is no medicinal value to marijuana, yet our government holds the medical patent for it, they are once again, taking both sides of the argument. It’s a plant that like all the other life on this planet, was put on this earth by our creator (Seems like I read somewhere in The bible where it says all plants are good) It was used in hundreds of ways including medicine for thousands of years and It has been illegal for the last 70 or so years. I think the old adage follow the money might fit here.

So I was using my girlfriends bottle of Hash Oil to stir fry some bananas, when all of a sudden, this huge collumn of flames shot up to the ceiling. I said Whoah! WTF. We threw pancake flour on top to smother the flames. //

My friend reckons once Dupont invented and patented nylon that they got the government to ban hemp using it’s misuse as the reason - I am unsure if that is true or not but the older I get the more suspicious I am of government actions - when I see what is happening to that farmer Bundy via Harry Reid and the turtle excuse in Nevada you have to wonder if they do anything that does not have some self interest! Thanks for the link I will check it out

God Bless

Mel

And yes God saw that all His creation was good including the hemp plant!

You don’t have to use heat in the BHO method. The only reason one would is if one is in a hurry. Nevertheless it’s still dangerous and silly to do it indoors with heating elements present, where even an high wattage light bulb can set it off.

It’s not done to make a more potent high, it’s done to make a more convenient and portable high by using it for edibles. It’s also used mainly for less than grade B marijuana — as the article describes it’s made from the chaff and stems of the plant ... which is silly because the stems will yield nothing but foul tasting Chlorophyll.

THC is water insoluble. The method you’re designing is used to make commercial Hash — a more desirable compact and convenient form for either cooking or just traveling with. It’s done using crushed ice, water and sieves in the form of a set of bags in decreasing sieve size.

So basically with Butane or Alcohol or some other solvent you gather what passes through the filter, THC dissolved in the solvent, and with water and ice you gather what’s left in the filter, THC suspended in the water.

They both need to be dried. In the case of solvent, the hacks use electric heating elements while the pro’s only use a vacuum chamber, or the in between who would merely let it sit and evaporate itself — in a safe spot presumably.

For the water based extraction, it’s pressed and compressed over and over and then cured for several weeks in a cool dry place or for a few days in special curing ovens.

The oil ends up in a very sticky liquid form — is difficult to work with unless you’ve got it from a true pro like Rick Simpson’s Phoenix Tears oil.

The water method yields a lump of heavy THC/Particulate lump of clay — called bubble hash by some.

This as opposed to the dry and shake method or the more ancient hand rubbing method.

Naptha, everclear and 90% rubbing alcohol are also used to make “rick simpson oil” or “phoenix tears”. Some say it can cure some cancers. But mostly it is smoked

I find that just plain Hash is good enough for all needs, unless you just want that big fat blunt.

A lot of people who need THC for either pain, insomnia, anxiety or racing thoughts can’t smoke it or won’t smoke it.

I know of some cancer people who are are on the Gerson system (method) and supplement themselves with Phoenix tear’s oil.

Why? What Low Oil said is correct.. You legalize one aspect of dangerous drugs and 3 more problems come up.

Nevertheless, legalizing drugs does stop the illegal drug trade. By definition.

You wan to rethink that sentence?

Nope. Over 14 years here on FR reading opinions on this subject, and haven't seen anything yet that will change my my mind except the mind altering drugs some want to legalize.
