Theres something insufficiently descriptive about calling Los Angeles Clippers owner and real estate developer Donald Sterling a racist. By now, everyone is familiar with the baffling remarks he made to his girlfriend, admonishing her for featuring photos of black people on her Instagram feed and for bringing her black friends to Clippers games.
These werent merely the words of a jilted madman. They fit within a broader pattern of behavior, most notably a series of lawsuits in which Sterling was charged with housing discrimination on the basis of race against Latino and black tenantsblack people smell and attract vermin, he allegedly remarked to his staff.
This is racism in its most recognizable, blatant form: the powerful bigot creating structural obstacles against the advancement of poor minorities.
But theres another piece to Sterlings warped worldview, one that illustrates the bizarre and incoherent ways in which racism works.
As Sterling allegedly schemed to rid his properties of certain racial minorities, he sought to fill his development with Koreans, an ethnic group he valorized as hardworking and reliable.
Sterling did not take a passive approach to attracting Korean tenants. He changed the name of one of his buildings to Korean World Towers, adorned his buildings with Korean flags, and explicitly stated a preference for Koreans in his housing ads.

Is this worse than Islam and their motto..."Kill all the Christians and Jews". Yet the Prez and his lot praise Islam at every chance.
In the early 90s I was in South Korea in a shopping area when the clock struck 5pm. Out came several hundred beautiful Korean ladies. Long black hair, trim, healthy and flawless skin. I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
You can't NAME your own buildings? Free country my ass.
What exactly is it that makes these writers experts on race and racism?
What utter nonsense. Of course Asians have a better work ethic and focus on educational advancement than do other ethnicities, such as Blacks and Hispanics.
Is it the race or the culture?
Interesting question: How many Asian beggars do we see around our cities?
Anyone got a group pic of SNSD?
Oh so what. Now LIKING a minority group is evil?
I’ve seen Chinese men sleeping on cardboard in an alley in SF’s Chinatown, but I think they were working in the restaurant there.
But in America, it used to be the situation that one could favor any individual, group, or what have you, on his or her own property. It also, used to be the case, that people could argue with each other, and make private comments, intended for the ears of the person they were arguing with, without the conversation going viral, because someone or some agency had illegally eaves dropped.
More and more, it appears that Mr. Sterling is a victim of the increasing nazification of American culture. One does not have to agree with his personal descriptions of anyone; does not have to share any bias that he may actually have against any individual, group or what have you; one does not have to like Mr. Sterling; but it is very obvious who the victim is here, and it is not a vengeful NBA, or any minority race, creed, or HIV Positive patient.
Some people do not like other people. Hold the presses!
The term Racism is becoming a word with no meaning.
The Koreans are my favorite immigrant nationality.
Not many! And read again what Jefferson said about native Americans in 1782, before the corrupting influence of a Welfare State lowered our standards. (Jefferson On Welfare.)
Understand to the core of your being how insane is the contemporary Leftwing media circus--how totally we have been betrayed by those who supposedly are reporting the news..
How odd...or not. In the same issue of Business Insider is another article which writes about “Why Asian Americans excel at academics”.
” Ive seen Chinese men sleeping on cardboard in an alley in SFs Chinatown, but I think they were working in the restaurant there. “
I could just see them talking to their parents...
“You sleep in Washington machine box, why not Refridgerator box like Chun Lin down the street? You making us look bad, you not B-sian, you Asian, act like one or you dishonor us all! Now go to the alliance store and get a better box and you better get a Maytag box, we have image to maintain!”
The meaning, given the way it is being used today, is not descriptive of a point of view; rather, a verbal equivalent to giving a dog an electrical shock, as part of a Pavlovian experiment. (See Life & Politics In A Pavlovian Kennel.)
The complicity of much of the mass media, in deliberately imposing conditioned reflex reactions to the misuse of language, on those found to be susceptible, amounts to a crime against the American future.

Too many people these days confuse Race with Culture, Religion, Language or some weird mix of the three....
Even if true, wouldn't that be a better way of handling all immigration?
No welfare or social security will spur to work hard!
RE: Even if true, wouldn’t that be a better way of handling all immigration?
Whatever happened to :
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore...”

An idealistic 19th century poem is not a suicide pact for the 21st.
I just heard on Rush that we rejected the crack using mayor of Toronto when he entered the US, so apparently we can make some choices on who comes in.
The left intentionally conflates race with culture when it comes to inner city urban culture.
They do so because they seek to promote the destructive culture as a foil to Western Civilization,
and to use white guilt as a shield from criticism.
Loves Koreans, black girlfriend, donates tens of thousands to NAACP and got their lifetime achievement award
I can’t seem to do it on a phone
