The Gilford School Board later apologized for the “discomfort” the controversial book assignment caused and vowed to allow parents to “accept” material rather than “opt out.”Someone please tell me what theya are saying in that sentence? NUTS! If I were the father, I think I would find a private school for the daughter. I did something similar when my son was young. Reflecting back, it was certainly the right course of action.

The Board probably feared that Dad was going to read aloud, for the record, the specific content he found objectionable. It is noted in the article. Read it and see if you feel it was appropriate for a 14 year old.
