'I can't believe ESPN even allowed that to happen': former NFL running back (subject: Sam's kiss)
Daily Mail UK ^ | May 11, 2014 | Joshua Gardner

A now-retired Super Bowl-winning NFL running back went on a Twitter tirade on Saturday after openly gay 2014 draft pick Michael Sam kissed his boyfriend on television.

Derrick Ward, 33, who was a member of the New York Giants Super Bowl XLII-winning team, didn't hide his disdain for ESPN's decision to air Sam's smooch with boyfriend Vito Cammisano after learning he would become a St. Louis Ram.

'Man U got little kids lookin at the draft,' Ward complained. 'I can't believe ESPN even allowed that to happen.'

What is going to happen to viewership? Will Dads decide it’s not worth tuning in at the risk their little children will see things they should not?

This Dad is going to become a college football fan.

I love college basketball, but I won't watch the NBA. I am going to do the same with football.

Can’t believe ESPN allowed it?

I’ve got $100 that says they staged it.

I couldn’t watch Sportscenter for more than five minutes this weekend without ESPN promoting this as if this was the most important story in sports.

And just like a lot of other Black professional athletes, they prefer the White Girl!

Is Sam racist towards Black Homosexuals?

The Rams can write off the upcoming season. Everything about the Rams this year will be about them having the “first openly gay” homosexual on their team. The pre-game shows will make you want to puke.

Its a good thing for him that he’s out of the league, or he’d be joining that guy from the Dolphins in the NFL’s re-education camp.

“Michael Sam is too small and too slow for the NFL. The Rams can’t play him aggressively or risk him getting clobbered.”

You obviously haven’t taken into account the anti-bullying rules the NFL will implement to protect Sams. I suppose they’ll have to make him wear a pink pullover jersey too.

And there’s the rub for Roger Goodell...65% of his “workforce” is African-American, a group that opposes gay marriage at a higher rate than any other group. While various gay rights groups have been touting the “evolution” of black voters on the issue, the most recent, reliable polling indicates that half of all African-Americans are opposed to gay marriage.

The reason is simple: blacks are markedly more religious than any other ethnic group in America. The vast majority identify as Christians, and they endorse biblical teachings on homosexuality. Sure, you can find a lot of black NFL players who were raised in dysfunctional families and their football skills were the only thing that saved them from jail. But you can find many more who were raised by a mother or grandmother who kept them in church and off the streets. And now, the NFL wants those men to abandon deeply-held beliefs in the name of “progress” and “diversity.”

Truth is, you’ll find more African-American athletes attending chapel services in the NFL and participating in FCA activities than their white counterparts. That group is a lot closer to Tim Tebow in terms of faith than the handful of players who endorsed the idea of an openly gay player before Michael Sam’s arrival.

The rookie from Missouri will not be welcomed with open arms by other African-American players. And you’d better believe the NFL will spend a lot of money on “tolerance” training this summer, with an implied threat: if you can’t publicly endorse Sam, keep your mouth shut, or Goodell will come down on you like a ton of bricks.

But there isn’t much Goodell can do about NFL retirees (like Derrick Ward) expressing their point of view. I only hope Mr. Ward doesn’t have any aspirations for a coaching or front office job in the league. Rest assured, Goodell and his minions will be keeping a list of former players who make comments the league interprets as being “negative” on the issue, and those individuals can forget about working for the NFL.

Meanwhile, China, Russia, and the Muslim World take note of the descent of the West into decadence.

The Leftists, who are determined to accelerate this descent, weaken the United States, and end U.S. hegemony once and for all, are in for a shock when the balance of power shifts irrevocably to this triumvirate.

How long do you think this sort of thing will last in a world dominated by Islam or Russia?

“Allowed it to happen...?”

How many other draft candidates had cameras focused on them throughout the draft?

I’m a lifelong sports fan who refuses to watch ESPN. That channel sucks the enjoyment out of sports viewing and fandom by politicizing everything. I watch sports for a refreshing break from politics.

Note these comments from Vladimir Zhironovsky, regarding the freak that won the Eurovision contest, can’t say I disagree:

Nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky told Rossiya-1 state television: “There’s no limit to our outrage. It’s the end of Europe. It has turned wild. They don’t have men and women any more. They have ‘it’.

“Fifty years ago the Soviet army occupied Austria. We made a mistake in freeing Austria. We should have stayed.”

Yes. I’m aware of Zhironovsky’s comments—just as the people of other nations are aware of what’s going on in the United States.

Sam will wind up on the Rams developmental roster...practice player, won’t see any action in games beyond the pre-season. After a couple of seasons on the taxi squad, the Rams will offer him in a trade, and there will be no takers. Shortly thereafter, Sam will announce his retirement from the NFL, followed by Roger Goodell appointing him as the league’s special assistant for LGBT matters—that is, if ESPN doesn’t sign him to a six-figure deal as a commentator.

On a personal level, Sam came out for the right reasons, but I get the impression that his announcement was more about enhancing his standing in the draft—basically forcing an NFL team to draft him—than about being truthful to himself. Sam is a smart guy, and he knew exactly how the media would react. I’ll be greatly surprised if he ever sees the field in a regular season game, but he will go down as the most famous “marginal” player in NFL history, simply because of his sexual orientation.
