Widow Sues Porsche In Crash That Killed Husband, Paul Walker
AP) ^ | May 12, 2014 5:11 PM

The wrongful death lawsuit by Kristine M. Rodas says her husband was driving at 55 mph — not at unsafe speeds as law enforcement investigators determined — before it crashed last year. Roger W. Rodas was driving a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT capable of more than 200 mph, but his wife’s lawsuit says the vehicle lacked a proper crash cage and safety features in the gas tank that would have saved both men’s lives.

The lawsuit also contends that a failure in the car’s suspension system forced it to careen out of control and strike three trees while driving down a street in Santa Clarita.

I’m in New Mexico and have seen more highway carnage than watching “Signal 30” about 50 times. No way they were going 50.

I don’t think they were married at the time of the accident. A lot of people will call themselves husbands or wives, but not have the paper to back it up.

You certainly could be right. I am unsure.

Of course we taxpayers are to blame.

We put too much CO2 in the atmosphere.

That CO2 was taken up by the trees to make them bigger and stronger than they otherwise would be.

If we hadn't put all that CO2 in the atmosphere the trees would have been easily crushed by the Porsche and the occupants would have received just minor cuts and bruises.

She was also only about 15, perhaps 16, at the time of the crash as well.

Yeah,,, after those movies he has to be a trained driver. Kinda like the way Eastwood was a detective, and Mark Hamill had extensive training in X-wing space fighters.

At least according to the article, he’s the most skilled of the cast when it comes to driving.

Yeah, a Porsche set up like that, on clean dry pavement...??? At 55 mph that thing could come to a complete stop in less than 100 ft, or slow down to a very survivable impact in much less than that. Or simply turn. I’ve seen Porsches and other similarly set up cars make amazing turns. If that car couldn’t navigate a simple street safely it was either driver error and/or excessive speed.

I had dance training for a show once. Does that make me a professional dancer?

If you are not currently employed as a professional dancer, you should sue your trainer for having failed. I suggest $10M for pain and suffering.

I would agree, the parts angle to this is a lose-lose situation. However, if she can note one single part failure...I’d suggest letting Porsche evaluate that part and determine if it’s a legit part manufactured by them, or if it’s a fake (made in China). There are custom shops that look for ways to save on costs and enhance their profits, and this might be one rare example of such action.

Personally, I think the driver screwed up and it’s a plain accident...like thousands of others that occur daily in America.

He’s probably had far more training than most people who own those types of cars.

As I understand it Mr. Walker was a hobby racer - had training and some experience. He drove the "pace car" for the 2011 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Ironically, that was a Porsche 911. (stock) According to a buddy of mine associated with the race Mr. Walker drove the course in a very respectable 14 minutes flat, a time that would have made a decent showing in several of the classes that year had he been racing. Shame he wasn't driving the Porsche that day...

I have seen a lot of TC photos and reports, and tend to agree. Though, never any of this type of car before.
