Watch a Hero Cat Charge Down a Dog Brutally Attacking a Child

A little boy was out enjoying his bicycle in his family’s driveway on Tuesday when out of no where he was attacked by a loose dog.

Luckily, a hero cat was on hand to save the day — yes, a cat.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m., in Bakersfield, California, according to KERO-TV.

Different angles from the home’s surveillance camera show the boy and then the dog prowling around the corner. When the canine spotted the boy on the other side of an SUV, he trotted over and then lunged, violently pulling the boy from his toddler bike.

Then, the family’s cat, Tara, charged and jumped on the dog, frightening him away from the child and chasing him off the property.

I think she went after the dog. That cat is a bad @ss. Forget pack mentality. That cat is part of the pride.

A slightly odd reaction, but we only see what’s on camera.

Possibly mom went just offscreen to call for someone else to come help.

I was just reading about mountain lions, and how one 150 pound cat can bring down a 900 pound elk. Predators without equal at the top of the food chain. Wolves hunt in packs and will eat carrion and other crap.

Don’t you love how Mom leaves the boy lying in the driveway, still tangled up in his bike. Boy gets up while Kitty covers his flank yet again, and runs into the house.

I think she may have been panicked and wanted to get a look at the dog, to see if she knew whose it was, or make sure what it looked like or if it looked rabid, since the car was blocking the view. Naturally she returned to the child after a brief look. The cat was a real team player, that's for sure!

I know, thought the same thing, Mom goes to the kid then takes off running, leaving the kid to pick himself up...sheesh.

Cool Video, very brave Kitty....

From the video description...

Published on May 14, 2014

My cat defends my son during a vicious dog attack and runs the dog off before he can do additional damage. Thankfully, my son is fine!

Question: Why did the mom run away?
Answer: After checking his wounds she made sure the dog did not return for a second attempt. The owners were there also and she was bit by the dog as she tried to pin him in his yard. The owners did get control of the dog and secured him in which she immediately returned to attending to our son. I did not include that video because it was not so much about the dog but about the cats actions.

Most don't understand that pound-for-pound, cats are far more formidable than dogs. An 80-pound dog is no match for an 80-pound cat. They can kill animals several times their own weight, and can badly maul animals that far outweigh themselves. A leopard can kill an antelope its own size and haul it up a tree and hang it there.

They do all of this single-handedly, since they're solitary hunters, whereas (as you pointed out) dogs kill as part of a team.
