It’s been dry all over California all winter. They said last year’s fire season never ended- they never shut down for the winter.

With seven there’s a strong likelihood there’s an arsonist.

The bad thing that the media does, is when the fire danger is the worst, they make a big announcement for everyone to be careful.

Of course the arsonist hears this as: “Gentlemen, take your marks, get read, set...”

She had to leave her work and evacuate, near Carlsbad.

There are only two seasons in southern California, fire and mud. Mud season passed and now it is fire season.

Dry and hot. Wierd and unusual hot. Many costal areas in the 90’s, some over 100 today. This is crazy.

You know, if it doesn’t rain they say that. It never ended it’s a terrible fire season.

If it does rain, the undergrowth is thicker, and they say it’s a terrible fire season.

About 35 years ago, I realized that this time every year, it’s a terrible fire season.

This is one of worse droughts in Southern California. My front yard is as dry as any desert. There just wasn’t any rainy season.

Don’t think I have an answer for your question but have a link for nationwide scanner (police and fire) that was posted by another FReeper (is not my link but looks to be a good link) that breaks down into counties in the San Diego area. Can retrieve the link if would like to have it and you think the link would be useful. Was able to access for free but there was a lot of run-over talkover in communications.

Santa Ana condition. Hot, dry winds that are caused by compression of air as it goes through mountain passes and sweeps to the coast, getting warmer as it goes. Not really winds blowing from the desert. I experienced 109F once in San Diego during one of these.

You’re right. The firebugs get inspired during Santa Anas.

My son works for the USFS as a dispatcher in San Diego. He’s a very busy fellow today, needless to say. They did let the seasonal firefighters go for the winter and have just started calling them back. This is really early for this kind of fire activity. Their helitack crews (contract helicopters) aren’t operational yet!

Sorry you are having such a dry year, windcliff.

During the ten years that I lived in SantaMonica/Marina del Rey, I remember only one with bad fires — they were in the Malibu Mountains, and we had red skies and tons of smoke for several days. And that’s all.

Hope things get better for you.
