Two days ago, I wrote that for me the real issue in the upcoming Mann vs Steyn trial is not so much my own personal freedom of speech but the broader freedom to speak given "the climate of fear that Mann and his fellow ayatollahs of alarmism have succeeded in imposing on an important scientific field":
If you're older, tenured, sufficiently eminent and can stand his acolytes jumping you in the parking lot and taking the hockey stick to you, you'll acknowledge that his greatest achievement is distinguished mainly for its "misrepresentations" and "falsifications".
But, if you're a younger scientist, you know that, if you cross Mann and the other climate mullahs, there goes tenure, there goes funding, there goes your career: you'll be cut off like Briffa's tree rings. I've been stunned to learn of the very real fear of retribution that pervades the climate world.

Descent is no longer patriotic, it is not to be tolerated.
As Steyn hints in his last sentence and links just above, the radical Left's thinking can get even more radical. Oppose anthropogenic global warming by whatever name and you become an enemy of the state and declared a threat to national security. Maybe you will be investigated, put on a watch list, arrested, imprisoned, or in the end game, just disappeared by the Regime if the current madness is not stopped.

Censorship is here. While the government isn’t doing it directly, the government is behind it.
Shouldn’t the title actually read: “Is Denying Climate Change Projections Based on Fraudulent Computer Models a Threat to National Security?”
The resoundingly sane answer is - “No.”
CNA Corporation to which the NYT article points to as its “National Security” source consistently notes that its analysis is based primarily on whatever panel climate projections were endorsed 6 or 7 years prior. That would be back in the good old days before “hide the decline” was known. However, the analysis basically says, “If Third World countries become more industrialized and begin rapidly consuming resources then shortages will likely lead to conflicts. Those shortages will be more severe after efficient, if finite resources are replaced with weak although politically endorsed quasi-sustainable wind and solar farms.” The NYT sure spins the spin to tie “National Security” to “Climate Fraud”.
