A 25-year-old South Carolina man is dead after asking a friend to shoot him in order to test out a bullet proof vest.

According to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown, the victim, Blake Randall Wardell, discovered the vest in a garage early Wednesday morning while hanging out with friends at a property on Broadmouth Church Road.

Wardell reportedly asked an 18-year-old friend, Taylor Ann Kelly to shoot him. She fired a small caliber weapon but the bullet missed the Kevlar and pierced his heart, according to McCown.

wouldn’t you think that he would of used a tree or a statue of Hitler as a testing device before using himself?

“You give a gun to a woman who seems to have little experience with guns, and tell her to shoot you...and we’re surprised that she missed the broadside of the barn but tagged the soffit at the drip-edge and he’s dead.”

Technically not what happened, but one of the best and funniest analogies I've ever read.

She fired a small caliber weapon but the bullet missed the Kevlar and pierced his heart,

Either she missed what she was aiming at, or she hit what she was aiming at.

Note to self:

1. Don’t test body armor like that.

2. If you ignore Rule 1...make sure you’re shooting at the armor.

He learned it wasn’t a bullet proof vest, it was only a flak jacket.

And if William S. Burroughs could get off a manslaughter charge why shouldn’t she?

I’m trying to figure out how it missed the trauma plate and Kevlar but still hit his heart. She would have had to have been at some weird angle to have had it miss yet still hit his pump. Perhaps way low like down on her knees and close to him, but that... nevermind.
