Armed Thug Taken Down by Homeowner with AR-15
Jonathan Haith says he was sleeping in his Henderson, North Carolina, home on Monday morning when heard a light knock on his backdoor. He ignored the noise at first but a second louder noise coming from the "laundry room area" got his attention in a hurry. The loud bang was the sound of an armed thug kicking in his door. Haith quickly grabbed his AR-15 semi-automatic rifle from under his bed and prepared to confront the unwelcome intruder.

Per the link... Intruder fired a 9 mm at him and he fired back hitting the intruder. Intruder is in critical condition and his partner is in custody.
picked the wrong house
I would have loved to have seen the look on the thug’s face as the rounds were being fired at him.
...and so yet another young man may die. Another victim of gun violence. Why do people feel they need guns to settle every little dispute? What is it that turns people, like this homeowner, into savage killers? Is it some lust for adventure, the desire to play a real live video game and kill the “bad guys”? I sure hope not, because the “bad guys” here have families that love them, and people that depend on them. One would hope that we all learn something here: Violence is never the solution to a problem.
(how’s that for explaining how a liberal views what happened at the house)
I love a Happy Ending! :)
He saw a “tall black gentleman with a gun who then fired a shot at me”
“Nothing was taken from his home...”
Why did he not just call 911 and wait half an hour for the police to arrive instead of using his big bad scary assault weapon to hurt the well meaning intruders?
White privilege ya know.
Ooh, nice. I’d blame the inequality of income between the obviously rich AR owner and the poor guys struggling to make ends meet with a 9mm. He should at least have offered them his gun.
AR-15, AK-47 are dicey for home defense in densely populated areas.
An HK94 with low velocity rounds puts a hurting on the zombie hoard without endangering your neighbors or others in the house as much.
>> picked the wrong house
That should be every house.
LOL! I always crack up when I see that video, not only from Biden being an idiot, but because there is a woman interviewing him named Kate or Kay who looks just like a man! WHAT THE??
AK (7.62x39) has a lot more penetration than the 5.56 in a home environment. Lots of tests have shown at 5.56 tumbles inside of walls with sheet rock, preventing overpenetration out of the walls of a home.
The AR-15 is a fine home-defense weapon. Shotgun might be better, but some (like my wife) are recoil-adverse, and the AR-15 is easy.
45-70, 425 grain, that’s the ticket!
This guy is lucky the guy with the 9mm couldn’t shoot.
Agree. Mr. Shotgun.
I can’t count how many times I’ve watched it. 3 times since I posted it just tonight.
It totally needs to be an NRA commercial.
AR pistol even better.
a Hornady V max would probably fragmentate if it hit a wall. Might be worth investigating actually.
Oh jeezus, what IS that thing that was acting as host. I tried and tried, but couldn’t figure out if it is male or female. That is a pretty piece.
There is Youtube footage of AR rounds and wall board.
Interesting,I will check it out.
Buy a shotgun!
NOTHING is more effective for home defense if you can handle the recoil.
Sh!t. A Mossberg 500 Tactical can be had for $329 max.
8+1, 20in barrel.
Kicks like a mule. Twice what my 30.06 does. It'll bruise you.
Low-recoil loads in 12 bore are readily available for those who don’t like to bruise their shoulders.
Frangible lead-free .223 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/AMM-286
Just not as effective as a 3inch, 00.
Absolutely! But I wonder how much difference there is between standard and low-recoil loads at close-quarters’ distance?
I know one thing - I wouldn’t want to fire an AR indoors w/o hearing protection!
Well the lowest “low recoil” load you want to go with is a standard 2 3/4 in some sort of buckshot. If somebody is selling something below 1000FPS it’s not worth the shot and powder to blow it to hell:)
I have built a backstop for a range in my garage. I’ve been testing the 60 grain Aguila super subsonic. Yes they keyhole from a 1911 .22lr GSG pistol, and yes they dig into the rubber mulch I use to catch the bullets. I’ve about decided that the round out of the very dependable GSG pistol is an idfeal home defense pistol round. I’ve gone ahead and altered the mags to hold fourteen rounds and am loading two mags with the 60 gr bullets, with two additional mags holding HV Federal hollow points. So far, no hiccups!
I’ve heard the same thing re: 5.56 tumbling. One comparison floating around on YouTube showed they penetrate less structure than 9mm and 45 ACP, if I remember correctly. You are right about ARs and recoil. My wife loves my AR, in fact she keeps it on her side of the bed. I get the Mossberg 12 on my side...
First shell in my Mossberg is a 7/8 oz rifled slug. Then #1 buck, slug, buck... In other words, hamburger makers. The slugs are there in case I need to shoot past a family member, the dog, etc and I don’t want any stray pellets catching them. Dangerous, yes, but if I have to do that it is already pretty bad. With the mix I’ve got options.
Fire a gun at someone in Florida while committing a felony and most likely you'll get a 20 year minimum sentence. The prosecutor can waive the minimum, but the judge can't.
[Hint: Probably because armed thugs don't think of their victims as “friends”. They are merely targets of opportunity to be plucked.]
Should have ended with two dead intruders - but all in all, not bad.
As his mother will say, I’m sure he was a good boy.
Al and Jessie will assemble a rent a mob if the price is right.
Thats how a liberal views an armed conflict when someone breaks into YOUR house. They get to use any force necessary (and usually excessive) when someone even THINKS about breaking into THEIR house. Liberals love guns and have no qualms about using them even for trivial matters. Their problem with guns is that you can have them.
Missed the inequality angle, thanks.
Why not - telling the truth opens one to claims of racism and hate-thought. I have no problem calling a shot perp a "gentleman" if it makes others feel good. Here's to all the perforated "gentlemen" of the world.
if it makes others feel good. Here’s to all the perforated “gentlemen” of the world.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
In its search for ‘fairness’ MSM is more likely to call the 15 yo attempting an armed robbery Mr. Smith, while calling the 66 yo ‘victim’ Jones or even by first name - with the sympathy angle towards the 15 yo and the ‘animals’ that raised him, not the 66 yo that was/is attempting to raise a family the correct way.
I tell em if you are looking for sympathy, try the dictionary
- it is right between $hIte and $yphilis
I just love stories like this before breakfast, makes my day begin with a smile.
My AR mid-length has a 1 in 9 twist, which seems to stabilize the bullet better than out of a 1022 or Sig 522. Out of the 5 inch barrel in the GSG .22lr 1911 the round tumbles within fifteen feet! But that sideways bullet traveling at around 850 et/sec would be effective at in home distances, without over penetrating and hitting a neighbor.
Perps were knocking to find out if homeowners were at home.
Receiving no answer, they then kick their way in.
Common burglary technique.
Note: No pictures of perps. No mention of their priors. The victim is lucky to be alive. Do let the homeowners of Vance County know the disposition of the case. If the DA is (a) not some Affirmative Action Anus, or (b) a Nifong clone, suggest the charge be "Attempted Murder," and "Armed Robbery." Not B&E, or Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
