How do the car companies stay in business? Are they “Too Big to Fail”? Oh, I think I have it! The taxpayers are subsidizing the industry. Maybe folks that pay taxes should get a nice car at reduced prices. Oh wait a minute! I lost my head for a minute! That wouldn’t be fair to those poor souls that don’t pay any taxes. Oh well, just let em rust away.

Excess supply.

According to the law of supply and demand, the prices are too high.

There have to be unnatural incentives at play.

The Port of Sheerness is a significant feature of the Isle of Sheppey's economy. Covering more than 1.5 million square metres,[32] it is one of the largest foreign car importers in the UK

May be just a coincidence?

Ubama thought that evaporating the supply of used vehicles with "cash for clunkheads" would force the peasants to purchase new Government Motors vehicles.

The peasants thought differently.

Since when did people get a “new car every year”?

Buy now from the discount channels.

Costco sells cars. At below - far below - invoice costs.

People buying from the dealerships are getting porked, especially on soft merchandise.

Buy low. Dont pay high.

There is a much smaller version of this just west of Baton Rouge, LA. It’s a tad southwest of the first major I-10 intersection/exchange west side the Miss. River. They load them on rail cars there, but I’ve seen that yard so full at certain times that I doubt they could get another car parked in there.

One is reminded of the scene from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, part of “Fantasia”, where Mickey has turned the broom into a bucket-carrier, hauling in buckets of water, and multiplied its numbers endlessly, in a failed attempt to stop the mindless hauling of water.

That did not end well.
