Eagle Stadium, the $60 Million facility that Allen (Texas) debuted in 2012, will close for the fall, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.
The stadium, which made news earlier this spring when cracks were discovered in the cement of its concourse, was deemed unfit for public assembly.
According to the report, which cited analysis done by the Allen school district, the stadium support structures are not sufficiently capable of supporting the weight of the concourse level.

Thank the Lord they found this before 15,000 people piled in on a Friday night.
be thankful they weren’t Dam building....dumbasses
Is it under warranty?
the Red Chinese Construction Company which built the place... is... under obama....IMMUNE for American lawsuits
I’ve been amazed by the lack of knowledge on the part of some construction superintendents. I had an interesting time as an inspector on a new school. The super clinched his jaw every time he saw me coming. We constantly had it out over concrete and several other issues. The architect was useless. It wasn’t exactly mano-a-mano for two years. But it was definitely nose to nose mucho times. There was one time I really wanted to say I told you so after the mechanical guy started up a chilled water pump and the coupling teeth were stripped. I walked into the mechanical room just in time to see the super standing there dumbfounded looking at the black pieces laying on the pad under the guard.
I finished that job knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the school will still be standing 100 years from now if they need it.
60 million dollars for a facility that is used maybe 10 times a year.
Ah well. The folks in Allen are rich.
"Just going over to have a word with O'Reilly, dear."
Now there are hundreds of shovel ready jobs to tear it down.
The 60 million is not just for the football stadium. But it is still a huge amount of tax dollars.
They have money, and no doubt hired low wage illegal labor to build it....
I mentioned the chinese as it was they who built the greatly beleaguered San Francisco Bay Bridge...
And the Bay Bridge has what to do with a HS football stadium in Texas?
an attempt at humor
Only if their dumb enough to not have skipped out of the country.
an attempt at humor
I got it.
Ok, just didn’t get it.
You forgot the /s.
The school has held games for two seasons already.
I wonder if this was the same co that built the new courthouse in Waxahachie that had to be tore down before it opened? Does nobody oversee these projects? Somebody needs to go to jail. Maybe all those mommies and daddies that voted for the project.
Built in 2010, noticed cracking 2012 during construction .
The firm identified areas in the stadium where the load demand on the structure exceeded accepted building standards by 10 to 20 percent. In isolated locations, that number was greater than 70 percent, according to the firms analysis.
The deficiencies are outside of acceptable margins for error, the firm said in a letter.
How do you allow 15,000 people to be at risk when you know during construction that the place is falling apart? What we need is some Roman engineers. They built stadiums to last.
I've been wondering why school hallways don't have reinforced structures to resist collapse in a tornado... It seems like some well placed I-beams and rebar would add very little cost to the project and save lives in case of an emergency.
It comes down to money.
I’m not amazed. 8 years ago I went to a construction site where an entire track of homes was being built. No one doing the work spoke English except for the bilingual supervisors.
Profits regardless of consequences.
I doubt the engineers who designed it (and who are supposed to inspect it) are illegals.
No one suggested that, just you.
Corrupt greedy contractors hire illegals to do the actual stoop labor to maximize their profits. This is no secret and in fact illegals completely took over the construction industry years ago. Even those drooling in cups know this. Those bankrolling these project winked and nodded as it maximize their profits..
Profits regardless of consequences...
Not saying there aren’t any illegas in the construction business, but the folks who are responsible for inspecting the rebar before the concrete is formed are who to blame for this.
I worked as a contractor for many years. Some of the best rough carpenters I have ever seen were (probably) illegals.
As a whole, Mexican construction workers are better than white American ones, though not necessarily cheaper.
That doesn’t necessarily mean poor quality. The issue with other types of construction is that architects reference codes and standards in the construction documents. Unless the inspector understands those the superintendent has free reign to do what they want.
I’ve had workers come up to me after I’ve found a discrepancy and tell me that’s the way they’ll always done something. I had no reason to doubt that.
Another issue is the boilerplate “Install according to manufacturer’s instructions.” Those aren’t usually included with the contractor’s submittals to the architect. An inspector may have to find copies of those to ensure work is done properly.
Just because a contractor has been in business for decades isn’t a guarantee of quality and compliance. I had a fab shop forget to insulate a ductwork piece that would have created moisture issues later. Then the foreman thought all he had to do was buy a roll of fiberglass insulation down the street and glue it to the ductwork.
You’ve never lived until you get in an argument with four guys by yourself on a rooftop. Accidents have been known to happen.
They are are in on it...They’re told to cut every corner possible...Starting with labor. The fish rots from the head...
Ya think the engineers and supervisors don’t know much of the work is being conducted by substandard, ignorant non educated construction workers???
You must be bilingual, since most people who are hired to do roofing don't even speak English....There was a time when roofers made *really* good money....
That all ended when the contractors started hiring illegals who think company benefits mean 10 minute breaks..
By the way, out west, even the heating and AC installation industry was taken over by illegals...
People who used to make good money in that industry got out, as they were totally undercut by low wage substandard illegal labor. Mexican drug money came in and they started buying the installation companies and routinely go south of the border to recruit labor..
That hasn’t happened here. Illegals are here in the forest products stuff. I haven’t see them in the types of construction I work. I can’t speak for residential.
Go down to Georgia...The entire carpet manufacturer industry was taken over by illegals...Entire towns surrounding these businesses turned into camps for illegals.
Same with the poultry processing industry in the south and on and on...
I don’t doubt it a bit.
Another FIDENAE in the making? And I thought the arena in Little Rock AR was bad about 14 years ago.
“In 27 AD, an apparently cheaply built wooden amphitheatre, constructed by an entrepreneur named Atilius, collapsed in Fidenae resulting in by far the worst stadium disaster in history with as many as 20,000 dead and wounded out of the total audience of 50,000.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if they just demolished the stadium and started all over again. And have someone swimming in petroleum money like Jerry Jones or T. Boone Pickens pick up the tab this work.
