A species of snake that had been "lost" for almost 80 years has been re-discovered on a remote Mexican island.
According to a study published in the PLOS ONE scientific journal, the Clarion nightsnake was found again on one of the Revillagigedo Islands, more than 400 miles (650 kilometers) off Mexico's Pacific coast.
The original, and until recently the only, spotting of the species was made by American naturalist William Beebe in a 1936 visit to Clarion, one of the four Revillagigedo Islands. He returned with one snake preserved in a glass jar.

It would have been nice if they posted a picture of said rare snake.
Sheesh, Don’t tell BLM they’ll put the Pacific Ocean off limits to boats, etc.
We have a species of snake inhabiting the White House, it’s a Antiamericanus Viperous Adnauseam. It is known for it’s highly socialistic behaviour and oddly it’s mate bears a striking resemblance to the Salt Vampire native to Memory Alpha.
I feel so much better now.

Pictures of snakes and Helen Thomas should be banned from FR - IMO.
Especially any photos of Helen Thomas wearing only an albino ball python.
Was it happy to be found? That’s a long time to be lost.
Maybe they could take some to Ireland. I hear some anti-environmentalist name Saint Patrick or something once cleared the lands of them..
“I didn’t even know I was lost!”
According to H. Allen Smith in his book The Compleat Practical Joker, a man named Hugh Troy did release a variety of snakes in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day in 1932, and Mr. Troy claimed several decades later that the snakes were well-established there.
