Hollywood starlet, Broadway sensation, and television institution. Angela Lansbury has been famous for longer than she cares to remember. And at 86, shes in no danger of taking a rest.
Its just past lunchtime on a Friday afternoon and Angela Lansbury opens the cupboard in her compact and modern kitchen. It is stocked with HobNobs and she offers to put some on a plate while explaining why shes going to resist. About a month ago, she woke up with a mysterious stress fracture in her right hip and now, standing in front of the open fridge, she points to the calcium beverage shes had to constantly drink.
Ive put on weight from all the muscle milk, she says, sounding alarmed. I had to drink more than a pint twice a day! Whatever weight shes gained doesnt show. Her trim figure and lively manner betray that of a woman half her age and as she elegantly moves around her kitchen, dressed in a tailored tweed blazer and black slacks, gold earrings that match a gold brooch, its hard to believe that shes nearly 87.
Lansbury has received numerous lifetime achievement awards and shes earned them. One of Britains most beloved, durable and revered actors is now currently starring on Broadway in Gore Vidals The Best Man, eight times a week. Doesnt she get tired? Im the bionic woman, she giggles, picking up the tray with tea and biscuits and moving us into the living room to chat.
Other shows have required a lot more energy, she says, citing her performance as Madame Arcati in Noël Cowards Blithe Spirit, as an example.

Well let’s hope Angela, but nobody is inevitable. We all must make God sometime. Great to see her so healthy at almost 87.
Hard to believe that she was only a few years older than her “son” in The Manchurian Candidate when it filmed.
The movie is a metaphor for what Ubama is doing to us.
Gaslighting is a form of mental abuse in which false information is presented with the intent of making a victim doubt his or her own memory, perception and sanity. Instances may range simply from the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred, up to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim.
The term "gaslighting" comes from the play Gas Light and its film adaptations. The term is now also used in clinical and research literature.
Agree, reminds me a bit of Adele the British singer.
Good for Angela. I wish her an even longer life.
Lansbury is one of my favorites...she was a producer or a dirctor as well, on her show ‘Murder, She Wrote”. That 80s series has returned to television.
She is a classy lady.
“Why don’t you play a little solitaire while you’re waiting?”
I’ve started watching all the old Murder She Wrote shows late at night. so much more entertaining than some of the other things offered.
Yes, she was a doll! .......I watched an old Western movie a couple of years ago where she was the main saloon singer and dancer. She had blonde hair and wore a skimpy outfit. Very pretty and had great legs. ...Can’t recall the name of the movie, but she looked to be in her late 20s or early 30s.
I watch them also...when I can. The 80s were so long ago we forget a lot of them, it’s like a new show...lol
I loved her in “Sweeney Todd.”
“Try the priest!”
I watch Murder She Wrote reruns, too. I get 2 Hallmark channels. One has made for TV Hallmark movies and reruns of the Waltons, Golden Girls, etc. And the other one has some made for TV Hallmark movies, but on Sundays they usually do reruns all day of various old “Mystery” shows. They did Murder She Wrote all day last Sunday and I saw a couple of episodes.
Adore her
A LAWLESS STREET with Randolph Scott.

We were in NYC two years ago at a play across the street from THE BEST MAN (Nice Work if You can Get it at t he Impereal theater) After the plays were over, we saw Angela Lansbury come out of the theater across the street. Then out came Candice Bergin. Out came John Larroquette, then James Earl Jones. All of them spent quite a bit of time signing autographs for the visitors.
I watched a couple of those last Sunday too. I like some of the Hallmark movies, as they are family oriented.
AS a night owl some of the time, it’s nice to see a few shows that aren’t ‘R’ rated.
Angela Lansbury can’t be killed by conventional weapons.
