Skip to comments.New Procedure Can Neuter Dogs with Shot, No Surgery [w/video]

Hundreds of stray and abandoned dogs are waiting for adoption at the San Diego Humane Society.
The population problem is caused, in large part, by the cost of spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted births.
"Being able to very safely and cheaply neuter most male dogs, that can make a huge difference in the number of dogs that roam the streets, said Dr. Holly Mullin of the VCA Animal Hospital in Hotel Circle.
It costs hundreds of dollars to neuter a male dog, but a new injectable solution called Zeuterin could change that.
It stops sperm production forever with a simple, single dose.

Do they have a version to test on feral humans?
Hope they can come up with a variant for urban ferals.
Hope they come up with a variant for humans.
I’d pay welfare pimps $1000 each to get the shot.
Actually, given the extremist ecological idealism of liberals I’m frightened of the possibilities. A progressive population extremist could “neuter” hundreds or thousands of boys without their knowledge. It might take a generation to even find out it was done.
At least once, possibly twice when I was in grade school the heath department showed up and gave us shots without my parent’s knowledge or consent. This was in the ‘60’s. I didn’t even think to tell them it had happened. The attitude was it was none of their business.
They need to develop a shot for females, canine, feline,or urban feral.’Cause if you miss one male, all the females end up pregnant anyway.
Cops neuter dogs with a shot on a frequent basis. One shot and the dog will not breed - or breathe - again!
Awesome... is there a similar one for muslims and liberals?
Heck if they can make it a Dart. Animal control can just do driving “hunts” to solve problem.
The comments on this and people are in very poor taste at best
1) Will they still make testosterone and be capable of mating while shooting blanks? The female is of course the limiting factor and a lot of sterile males might just keep her busy enough to not conceive. But if they’ve all lost interest, she’s going to find the dog that is still fertile.
2) If they still make the usual amount of testosterone, this method of neutering won’t address aggression.
“Why couldn’t they have come up with this 35 years ago?”
Thus concludes another episode of “Inside Hillary’s Mind”. Brought to you each week on this station by He-Brew, the stout, hoppy, manly beer. Brewed by the Israel Brewing Company, which also brings you Nagila Light. Have a Nagila. Today.”
I don’t think this particular shot could be given without a boy’s knowledge. No sir.
Side effects? Unintended consequences? More research needed, but certainly veterinary medicine has progressed a lot in the last couple decades (I have reason to know, LOL!)!
Stopping sperm production doesn’t necessarily stop the hormone production, which is the real problem with cats. They don’t say exactly what the chemical does.
Liberals tend to be self-neutering. Muslims are another matter.
I wonder if it would work on serial baby daddies?
Gotta start somewhere.
Another thing you have to worry about someone slipping into your drink.
And surely our Simon-pure CIA wouldn’t think of administering this as part of one of their secret vaccination programs.
libs would let them breed to keep them in power and they’d slip it into your vaccine or flu shot or tetanus shot.
With a shot to each testicle, it could hardly be secret.
“The comments on this and people are in very poor taste at best”
Why? There are shots given to female humans all the time to stop fertility and I hear people all the time saying that certain women should be made to take the shot. A shot for males wouldn’t be different.
Two shots to the nuts.......WOOF WOOOOOFFFF!!!!
The OBVIOUS implication was not of volunteer use.
Progressives did it way back. An interesting book called
The War Against The Weak by Edmund Black.
“The comments on this and people are in very poor taste at best”
Not really. Each productively-employed person in the USA supports 1.5 non-productive person(s), most of which are multi-generational leeches.
That cancer cries for chemotherapy.
I’m with you. TNR can get pretty nasty when the kitteh in question is shredding not only the protective towel but my arm as well
They’re lacerations of love. ;^)
I just wonder what sort of K-9 cancers will be created by this drug as a result of the injection.
Offer it at no cost to human males on the welfare system. Not mandatory—that would be tyranny. Voluntary. Permanent birth control. What “playa” in “da hood” wouldn’t want that?
Hundreds for a male neutering? Just what are they doing?
As if males again needed anything easier. It’s the females that are difficult, dangerous and thus expensive. Can’t they find anything to make THAT easier?
As long as they don’t give me cat scratch fever they don’t bother me. So far so good
And you prove my point.
They claim it turns off the production of testosterone and may or may not reduce behaviors associated with intact males, “just like real neutering* may or may *not*.
This, however, is really good news:
“A population study of neutering status as a risk factor for canine prostate cancer that concludes that surgically castrated dogs are at double the risk to get prostate cancer.”
People do not realize that spaying/neutering has many detrimental side effects including, but not limited to a huge jump in the chances of developing certain fatal cancers.
I’m thinking Odin may be having his outlook changed.
Times have changed.
As anyone who has undergone a surgical castration or complete hysterectomy can tell you, neither are without terrible side effects.
My Izzy was as healthy as a horse and at the age of 8, we had her spayed.
Her hips went out in just a few months and she was dead a few months later.
Her niece Pookie was also fabulously healthy until we spayed her.
Her thyroid crashed, her hips went out and that was that.
If I knew then what I know, I believe they’d both still be alive.
Djinni was spayed before her first estrus and less than a month later, she developed cholesterol deposits in her eyes and to this day, has a white film over them.
The eye specialist said it was a “metabolic issue”.
I *know* messing with her system caused it.
Gypsy has terrible spay incontinence but one Wedgewood Estriol cap *cures* it almost instantly.
Because they put back what I had ripped from her.
The gonads are part of the entire metabolic/endocrine system, all of which works in perfect concert.
Rip out one part and you wreck the others.
This is simply common sense.
I deeply regret every spay or neuter I have ignorantly inflicted upon my dogs.
No, I am not in favor of using this on even the feral humans.
That plays right into Sanger territory.
Your points make me think that is why we see so much breast cancer today.
It’s pandemic in America and in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s and ‘90’s most women had hysterectomies then took estrogen replacement therapy.
All I know is my grandma and all the old ancestors didn’t do that so the uterus may have some benefits we don’t know about. Keep your uterus intact!
I’m hanging onto mine for dear life.
The neighbor and her daughter both had total hysterectomies.
Listening to their tales of woe and misery have made a believer of me.
The subtle interplay of estrogen and progesterone are necessary for good health.
Most think you ‘run out of estrogen’ at menopause.
The opposite is true.
You become estrogen dominant due to the ~decrease~ in *progesterone*.
Most ‘female’ cancers are estrogen dependent.
Without the ‘youthful’ progesterone to balance it, it runs amok and unopposed.
We also now have a flood of ‘artificial’ estrogen mimics in our environments along with the unavoidable soy phytoestrogens popping up in far too many foods.
Thanks to store-bought foods and other items, we have lost touch with the nature of our own personal beasts.
BTW, Izzy’s brother, who is also Pookie’s uncle, just turned *16* on May 6th.
Never had a problem. Not that I have had many, but mostly girl dogs and boy cats, never had trouble.
My best dog I did not spay until she had developed breast cancer at 10, because I thought I might breed her, but never did.
MOST women had hysterectomies? I’ve never even had that impression.
Regarding cancer, never forget average death age has increased greatly in a short time. One is much more bound to get cancer the elder one is. Even happened to my dog being old.
Sorry, it wasn’t breast cancer, she had uterine tumors.
Will it work on obama voters?
This is good news for all the poor abused and unwanted of God’s creatures who have miserable short lives.
